In previous versions there was a single FP error at startup when running under Wine. The error dialog could be closed using its 'OK' button and DVDProfiler would function normally
In 3.6 error reporting has become more advanced with a 'report error to Invelos' screen. The startup FP error now invokes this new dialog but under Wine the dialog checkboxes do not work, the buttons do not render correctly (ie are random clue patterns) and are non-functional. There is also no close menu option for this modal dialog so the only solution appears to be to kill the DVDProfiler process.
This is NOT a Tahoma font issue (reinstalled and then used "winetricks allfonts" to ensure no other font is causing a problem either).
Has any linux users got ideas on how to get 3.6 working successfuly under wine. I will send a separate note to Invelos requesting a 3.5.1 binary pending resolution. |

Hats off to the Invelos support team - really fast turnaround on my ticket. To be honest, I half expected to be told that Linux/Wine was not really supported.
Anyway I am now testing a new release that fixes that last remaining Floating Point error on start-up under Wine. One caveat - I found an old 3.5.1 release so when I installed the new fixed 3.6 version it needed to upgrade the database. After a short while the progress bars disappeared off screen but it took a loooong time before the main DVD Profiler screen eventually appeared (on my 1300+ collection) - I nearly assumed a problem and killed the process - so patience is required.
Now it is up, it does seem a little slower than the 3.5 release except for bulk entering of DVDs - much faster acceptance of keystrokes as well as the nice advantages of bulk entry. |
