Have you ever sat with your remote and flipped thru station after station, trying to find something to watch?  Even though some of us have well over 2k, 3k or more titles to watch?

I still do it.  I just did it.  And, I'm ready to do it again! (It's good to be the king.)

Anyway...  that last time I did this, I settled on The Shawshank Redemption.  There was about 1/2 hour left.  I've seen this movie many times...but, I stopped and watched the last 1/2 hour.

So, what was the latest movie you did this with?

Nope.  I only ever watch news or the weather on TV.

I heard that it is an excellent movie... but for some reason is one I never had the urge to watch.

It's not the kind of film you have to be in the mood for just shove it on and let the magic flow.

I do this all the time with certain flics. Any of the Bourne's, The Replacements, Mama Mia, Down Periscope just to name a few, in the past month. I know it doesn't make sense when I could pull the disc and watch it all, but sometimes I'm just trying to kill some time before I have to do the thing on my agenda.

I don't do this as I only have the DVD & PS3 connected to the TV, no Cable, Satellite or OTA at all, when I want the news or weather I use the laptop.

We made this decision as a family as there was too much we didn't like and not enough we did like.

most recently, it was "Used Cars" - I have it on DVD, have seen it many times, yet stopped to watch the rest of the broadcast.

I do find that when this happens, I may abandon the broadcast when the first commercial break occurs  - usually not long after I've started watching. I absolutely refuse to watch any movie interrupted by commercials !  I do still DVR a lot of moives on TV, and then zip through the commercials with fast forward.

This.  Absolutely this.

There is no decision that I have regretted less than getting rid of cable.  Lots of money for not near enough value.

Nowadays, anything that's on TV that's any good, you can get on DVD.  Hell, even the bad stuff is on DVD.

Exactly,
except that for this reason I watch TV. Means: the movies I've never heard of, or which I've never seen yet. I use this as a decision help. Many of the titles on my wishlist are movies I first saw on TV.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
