Let me say first of all, I absolutely love DVDP and the continued updates from Ken. Thanks.

We now have the ability to track Feature Trailers and/or Bonus Trailers in 3.6. I have always wanted a way to search for a specific trailer to view on my TV. I know we can view trailers online, but that becomes impractical when you have 3 or more people trying to crowd around your computer, not to mention the inconvenience once everyone is settled in and ready to view the movie. My computer is in the same room as my BRDs/DVDs, so in less than a minute, I can fire up DVDP, search for and return with the BRD/DVD that has the trailer requested. The problem is unless I just watched it, I can't remember which one it's on.

Unless someone has a better idea, here's what I am doing. As I re-audit films, I am entering a list of Bonus Trailers in the Notes field of the personal tab, so they can be searched on. We don't need a list for Feature Trailers as they speak for themselves and would be available on the disc you are about to view. Carriage returns do not work in this field, so I am putting an em dash with a space on each side to separate them. I might experiment with bullets instead, as some titles have dashes in them.

Since there is no other way, that I can tell, to track or search for them, I am willing to share as I complete and contribute to the online db. If there is anyone else interested in this sort of thing, we would need to find a way for me to distribute them. I do not have nor am I interested, at this time, in having and maintaining a web site. I will not be offended by any responses, or lack thereof, on this subject. If anyone else can think of a better way to enter them, please let me know. I thought of proposing we include them at the bottom of the overview, but quickly realized that would annoy some people and rightly so, if they're not interested.

Keep contributing.

I been doing a lot of updates separating the trailer myself... I haven't noted what titles are on each disc... but if you like I can start noting it and putting a list together. and posting it in this thread as I do the updates. I am just not sure how big of a demand there is for this. If there is a demand and people start sharing the info I would use it. but not sure I would worry too much about it doing it for myself personally.

But if there is a demand... I could see posting in this thread something like...

Movie Title (UPC: XXXXXXXXXXXX)
- Trailer Title 1
- Trailer Title 2
- Trailer Title 3

and people can just come to the thread and use the info that matches releases they have.

BTW... on adding to the overview... it is also against the Rules to do so...

Overviews and Easter Eggs

Overviews
Copy the overview from the back of the DVD case exactly as written, including capitalization of words exactly as shown on the back of the case. Separate all paragraphs with a blank line.

Use the Bold and/or Italic features for any words in the overview that are bold and/or italic as needed to match the case. Exceptions: If the entire overview uses an uppercase or lowercase font, enter the overview using standard capitalization rules for the locality of the DVD. Do not bold or italicize individual letters (as in the case of dropped capitals beginning a paragraph).

Do not use bold/italic to denote color changes.

Never include the following items in overviews:

    * Taglines
    * Reviews (unless they are incorporated into the text of the overview on the case)
    * Extra features
    * Hyperlinks or other HTML
    * Line-break hyphens

Yeah, I know that at present it is against the rules, but also realized it would annoy people not interested in this sort of thing. I like your idea of putting the Movie Title and UPC in the thread, I didn't think of that one.

There are a whole bunch of posts and several threads regarding trailers. Take a look at the Layouts Forum. One useful way of listing trailers is in HTML format in Notes, or as a set of URLs that are presented in an HTML section. LoadDVD has some support for finding stuff in Notes, and LoadDVD Pro takes it to another level by playing any trailers found in Notes, on the DVDP Trailers page, YouTube, Netflix or in Playlists that you can build with the included Playlist Editor.

So, lots of options to take a look at before you invent a new one, which is perfectly OK if you don't like what you find!

My interest lies in knowing what disc I can find a particular trailer on, when there's not a feature trailer to play on my TV. I know about the different ways to play them on my computer, which is great when I am on the computer, but not for others who would like to see a trailer before watching a flic with my wife and I. I'm not sure what HTML has to do with a quick searchable list in the notes field nor what an HTML section is, but thanks for the info.

Oh Ok, lot of good food here. Seems there a number of very useful things about DVDP that you are not familar with. So, if you are open, I for one am willing to continue to offer suggestions.

First of all, the Notes field can be set to "HTML" mode in DVDP system options. This makes it handle urls formated as <a href="www.trailrwebsite.com">Playme</a> show up as clickable links in the Notes field. Obviously, since it is text, you can just as readily search a list of URLS as any other text format, and you get the added convenience of being able to click on them.

HTML sections are little mini-web browser windows that you can dock within the DVDP system. You can put any HTML in these windows you want, and they have access to most of the DVDP data, including notes. As I mentioned before, there are a bunch of examples in the Layouts forum where people search lists embedded in notes and interact with the user to select stuff such as trailers, episode guides, soundtracks, etc.

Apologies if I'm still missing your point - just trying to help.
Thanks for your support.
