OCB

"Created By" will be just that, no other verbiage, and is usually found in TV series.

While i agree completely with OCB.

We did hve yet another ill-advised change to the Rules , spurred by ONE very vocal user without considering the ramification. And the rules say

"Based on [anything] By"=OMB

Needless to say that will not work HERE, nor will updates along those lines accepted.

That's taking things out of context.

Ken's original wording for his change to OMB was "Based on the Book by". Someone asked about "Based on the Play by". That's when I said "Based on... [anything] by" to show that OMB could be credited in a number of different ways. I also recommended that the box remain blank at all costs because putting anything there would lead to problems. I also pointed out that the issue came up in the "Based on the Comic Book by" thread and how that was OMB and not OCB.

Then Ken changed it to "Based on the [written material] By". There was more discussion, which I was not part of, and Ken ultimately changed to to "Based on [anything] By".

Again, I really wanted it left blank, but with Ken changing it to "Based on the Book by", which was going to be a disaster, I thought the [anything] alternative was at least better than that.

Hey, the point is you got it into the Rules and apparently did not consider the ramifications of such a change. Now we have a mess. not for the first time. It certainly was not my suggestion, nor would I have made such.

I made comments just like many other users. We were all asked for comments. Again, my preference was for OMB to remain blank. Did you miss that part?

Then why did you make an ill-advised suggestion, James. I understand what your preference was, but you made the suggestion on top of your peronal perefernce, which was correct BTW. Ken bought the suggestion, made the change and now we have a mess. i didn't do it...you did and it was ill-advised, there are gross ramifications to it. All I can say is that the Rule as Ken has modified it is WRONG, not just wrong, DEAD WRONG and i will not follow it here nor am I willing to accept ANY crew updates from Profiles modified to this rather bizarre standard. You probably would have done just as well to tell him to eliminate OCB and any other potentila conflict with this Rule. As far as I am concerned, James, while I am appreciative of what you are saying, the change was made based upon your coment, your suggestion, we now have a mess andyou are responsible for it. <shrugs>  Sorry, amigo, that's how I see it. Not me nor anyone else made the suggestion it was all you.

Don't argue with him James (he's baiting you). As you said you were replying to Ken's request for suggestions. If he didn't thing your suggestion had merit HE wouldn't have changed it. And as you correctly pointed out Ken didn't even do as you wanted.

Ken: I'm doing some baking today, any suggestions?
James: Oooo - cookies please. And make them plain
Group: Yes, we like cookies too, all kinds.
Ken: OK - Chocolate Chip cookies it is!
James: well at least I got my cookies, but I would have really liked them plain.
--- [days later] ---
Skip: I DON'T LIKE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES AND IT'S YOUR FAULT JAMES

So, seriously. You have nothing to defend.

I am not baiting him. I am explaining that HE made an ill-advised suggestion, which ken bought and now has created a mess and he is responsible for it. You just can't resist baiting can you, Rick. All James, has to do is say yep, I screwed up, now how can we fix it. Ken shares a large portion of the blame for this, and he can fix it in a few keystrokes, but it is not the first time this kind of thing has happened and I highly doubt it will be the last.

All James has to do is say he screwed up?!? You have that little faith in Ken ability to make a decision on his program?!? There was a day when you would attack anyone who said such things about Ken. Once he made his decision that was it. Now, seemingly he can't even make a decision on his own and only does what James tells him to.

Bottom line is if you don't like what Ken and the community decided during your absence then try to get it changed. Blaming the 1st guy to post will do absolutely nothing to except cause bad feelings and get him to try to defend his position (AKA baiting him).

My calling you out on it isn't baiting. Between that and your lack of knowledge regarding the definition of 'to publish' leads me to believe you really need to trade in your old "published" dictionary for one of those new fangled high tech electronic ones (which BTW are also published)

No you're just a insulting user.

BTW for the record I take no joy in going at Ken, but he has of late made numerous mistakes in the program by listening to people like yourself and the situation is very close to completely out of hand now as demonstrated by the change to OMB, which has awful ramifications. The list of mistakes has gotten far too long for me to even begin to list.

Why don't you start a thread with the change you'd like to see. Make it a poll to show the level of support. That would be constructive.

He's an insulting user? Isn't that why you were gone while we were discussing this stuff?
