I think this has been tossed around before but wanted to bring this up  about the Title used for the Description of the Main Title Credits . .Rules state: Use the title from the film's credits. , but in the case of Robert Altmans's 1970 Movie M*A*S*H , that title comes up as MASH ..

I then checked  that just about all 6 or 8 odd titles in the data base are currently M*A*S*H, got me wondering if the rules were overlooked for this film.., or did we all drop the ball??

Personally I like the title with the asterisk's included ...  but any thoughts on this?

I think you have zeroed in one phrase, terry and ignored the context. First off the Rules ay to use the title from the FRONT Cover. I think I see what you are saying, I will stick With M*A*S*H here, no matter what.

Can't find it at the moment... but in the rules committee forum Gerri has stated that M*A*S*H is correct.

yup  I was looking in the wrong area, I was looking at the area of Original Title instead of the evry first line at the top of the three paragraphs  ...

For the purposes of special characters in the titles, if you can type it on a normal keyboard without using an upper ASCII character, then you can use it. So in this case, M*A*S*H would work, but the dots in between the letters in FRIENDS would not be appropriate.

Title (as Skip said) has to be from front cover. If it's with asterisk, take them into the title.
Original title from film credits. (if it's different)
