I recemtly did an audit for Stephen King's Rose Red and was nearly positive I had the first version cover, but since posting and asking I've got different views an theories. Here's the contribution page
http://www.invelos.com/Database.aspx?task=evaluate&id=1118739
(UPC 031398801528 if that won't let you look because disc isn't in collection)

So I thought I had first version, but a PM from kosvines has me second-guessing. Here's what he said which has me questioning myself:

"I bought mine on release day. If you look on the original scans UPC window, there's a proof of purchase, which is missing from your scans. (It's the same design as Artisan used in it's time, before Lions Gate bought them). The thick red keep case is the original release. Mine is also in a thick keep case, but mine look identical to the existing scan.

But I might be mistaken though, and since there's other members that disagree with my view..."

I do recall the old Artisan discs having a different UPC look, just can't recall which was which. Thought I cracked it comparing to Dead Alive (of which my scans were proven to first version recently), but that was TriStar disc before Lions gate took them over (UPC box on that looks the same as my RR though for what it's worth). This one both say Lions Gate and all dates are identical, so are all numbers, even the small ones in corner.

So, anyone else have memories, theories or educated guesses? Also note, my scans kinda suck, so don't worry abnout quality (I'll fix and tweak em if need be, but if re-issue I won't bother), just about what the back layout is and which was first version.

If it is a re-release... it was an awful quick one. I got mine about a month after release... and I have the same cover you do.

I picked my copy, which matches yours, in the first week or two of its release. I am positive it is an original and not a re-release.

I think...but you never know!...

Last approved cover scan was from Dr. Killpatient. Why not asking him when he bought his copy?

Is it possible it came out with two covers on release?

It wouldn't be the first time...

I asked everyone in the submission, he didn't bother to say anything except NO to the scans in voting notes.

So I'm asking again Dr. Killpatient (if that is your real name... ), what gives with your scans?
The evidence is leaning towards these new being first version, leaning heavy right now. I'll give it a another day or 2 before either fixing my scans or scrapping them.

I don't know this part above the UPC with the "Proof of purchase"
Is this just added at movies in normal shops or in some special shops, ... Anything that could help.
The scan I found in the net at a quick search are as yours.

Perhaps he also doesn't know because he voted no to the scans because of the colour. Let's see what will happen

I purchased mine on the release date and it matches the coverscans that bigdaddyhorse has submitted. It came in the "double-wide" keepcase.

The back cover that is in the database currently is the "re-release"
