| | Posted: | | | | I ran into an odd situation the other day. The Simpsons commentaries seem to be in 2-channel mono. I've never really understood why anything is in 2-channel mono, but they are. However, the Fox logo at the end of the credits seems to be dolby surround. Should I enter them as mono anyway? This could potentially affect mono films that have had new logos tacked on them as well. |

| | Posted: | | | | What does the Dolb logo have to do with the Commentary. Did they change the credits just for the Commentary, I don't think so. You record the Commentaries exactly for what they are. The reason for 2=channel Mono BTW is simply a fuller sound.

| | Posted: | | | | I still don't get it, Ace. We have the ability totrack multiple sound tracks with their matching characteristics. You have a Commentary Track that is two-channel Mono. Ken has previously indicated that for our purposes Mono is Mono, 1 channel or 2 channel it's still Mono. So you create a Commentary track that is DD Mono...simple.

I'd enter it as the format used throughout the track, not the one used during the company logo in the last tacked-on-fifteen-seconds. |

So if the original is Dolby Surround, I always enter Dolby Surround for the commentary, as Mono would simply be wrong, as the surround speakers are getting data from the films soundtrack.

| | Posted: | | | | I like commentaries in dolby surround as the back speakers play the movie soundtrack and only the front has the commentator speaking ., so in places where there is not any talking/commenting we can at least hear the movie instead of dead air ..
and of course there is straight 2 channel stereo broadcasts where two people each share one of the front speakers apiece.
I usually find too that a mono 1.0 soundtracks DVD that contain an audio comentary is most always a 2.0 channel setup for the commentator.
