| | Posted: | | | | I've recently upgraded another computer to Windows 7 and neither the current printer or scanner is compatible. Neither were supported under Vista either so using a different driver isn't an option.
As a result, I've decided to replace them with an all-in-one device to save space and am looking for real time recommendations on makes/models to go for/avoid. Wireless is a must and having duplexing capability would be an advantage.
Any suggestions would be great.

It's awesome:
- prints (ink, has good rating from photo magazine)
- scans directly to a computer on the network
- wireless or wired
- (of course) copies
Comes with a nice intuitive software too, it's easy to set it up to scan to a particular computer share | | | Kutch!

I'll take a look at that one. Ah, I missed the bit about wireless  ; we're fully wired, and in the process of upgrading to Gigabit LAN. I've been please with the Canon so far. For the money, PQ & scanning are pretty good and it's a reasonably compact unit. 6 inks which you can get for around a tenner each on Amazon (I use Canon ink on Canon photo paper). And (obviously coz it's networked, duh) all four machines on the LAN can print & scan.....(but as it lives in my study, gues who is in charge of loading the paper! | | | | Chris |

Prints look great (main reason I got this one and not an Epson, Epson prints looked like crap compared), scanner is good for flat things but has no depth. The Epson I used to have crushed it on scanning, absolutely crushed it. I could put an action figure in box on there and see every detail. of backing card. Now if I scan a dvd with slipcover, the UPC underneath gets slightly blurred. Scan an action figure and all I can see is the art on front of blister, everything else lost to darkness. But the ink is cheaper than Epson, last longer and doesn't force you to waste as much. The Epson mademe swap ink when it got to around 1/3 full, this I can push and push and push until I can see there's no more red or blue on the printout, then change when it's really empty! Epson won't let you even try to print if it thought ink was low, it just locked up until you put in new ink despite remaining tank being at least 1/4 full.  Of course this is an older and wired down model. |
