| Posted: | | | | OK here is what I have.
UPC is not in the system - 704400081712
So I try Disk ID for giggle and it kicks this back out - http://www.invelos.com/ProfileLinks.aspx?id=704400081699
Now, The UPC I have is a 2 Disk, with that Front cover. The back cover is the same except the UPC and the ISBN number # 1-4210-1873-X
Seems kinda redundant to re enter all the information that is currently there for this disk, and I could not find a way to "copy" a different profile and make the small edits to that and resubmit.
What is the preferred way to build something like this as a variant ?

Change all needed entries, like release date, SRP, Edition, Media Company, regions, ... and everything else what could be different. Scan the front and back cover (allthough the front may appear the same, there might be subtle differences) Also, not mandatory, but highly recommended, is a full audit of cast and crew verifying against actual credits. If you want to contribute your work, I suggest taking a look at the contribution rules. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I always go another way, even if it will be at last the same. Make a new profile matching over UPC. Download the closest matching title. Copy the existing profile and then paste the things you want in your profile into the new. Has the advantage, you're more aware of what you paste. (So you can leave the fields, you want to check or fill in alone, free) |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks,
I can't scan anything at this point so I woudl use the existing images ( the only differnace I can see are UPC and ISBN numbers. All other info is the same.
Heck even the already contributed back cover list the same extras as on mine.
So the records are kept via UPC then and editing a current profile and change the up will make a new entry in the DB ?
Cool I see about do that tonight

| Posted: | | | | That would be against the rules... the UPCs must match. Doing this is a good way to get (at least the images) declined. | | | Pete |

Yes, but if you cannot scan the cover, and the front cover is the same, use the front cover for front and back. And recheck all the data. | | | Updated List of Accepted Birth Years |

Hell whats the point when a lot of the scanned UPC's don't actually work right when you are having to delete 1 or 2 digits to get a match to come up ? How does that fit into the grand scheme of things ? Isn't the idea to be able to scan a upc and have the item come up ?

-Robert If you are having to delete digits I would think one of two things are going on: 1) Scanner is not setup correctly and sending check sums. 2) The item is uses extended bar codes that are common on periodicals which include an extension for issue number. What type of scanner are you using and have you gone though the setup on the scanner? Most come with a book that you can use to set all the options on what types of barcodes to scan, how to convert codes and inclusion of check digits. |

| Posted: | | | | Its #2, I use a Cuecat scanner about as stupid simple as you can get.
It is the extended UPCs and if. I recall the discussions about this from several years ago that pretty much went no where.

| Posted: | | | | Fox (and now MGM, since Fox is distributing them) almost always used the extended UPCs, which is a nuisance, but there's not a lot that can be done about it. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Well I submitted the "new" upc and info and now its not showing up under my contributions.
Shouldn't it show for at least 30 days reguardless if its approved or declined ?

And this is why I don't bother trying to contribute any more.
Its a damn UPC, where do you think I got it from ?
