| Posted: | | | | I submitted these child profiles for you, Skip. I would've added more like cast and crew but I'm kind of in a crunch for time right now, but will certainly help later on. And the picture isn't bad, of course since the footage is so old, it's not going to look fantastic, but still (and given the age), it's still stunning. BTW, this is 1080i HD. | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

Of course remember the source material is essentially home movie in quality. But very impressive. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

Further proof Blu-ray can bring benefits to anything. I don't know that I would go that far, Alba. I got the BD because it was relatively inexpensive this week. I don't have the DVD verson to compare it to, but on it's own yeah it is impressive. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | ^ Yeah, I saw it was only $19.99 (?) at Best Buy. Definitely worth it if you're interested in WWII. |

Skip Possibly not as dramatic but when Blu-ray content comes down to within the same price as DVD which it is doing and we should see at least one major release this year out sell it's DVD counter part in it's first week, the argument for not going for the Blu-ray get's slimmer. While yes DVD does have a vast amount of content iwhen i first got a DVD player in Christmas 2001 always thought that it was just tweak of the Laserdisc Format. Ultimately in time i think DVD will bel ooked on as stepping stone to something great and that is Blu-ray. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

I felt as you did when DVD was first introduced but discovered that it was a lot more than a LaserDisc tweak. It is users like myself that made DVD the fastest growing platform in history. I don't think it will die anytime soon. I think there is a lot of material that will remain with DVD, like "golden age" TV, not sure they could really benefit from BD. Not to mention the public domain titles which are generally pretty trashy even in DVD quality. But on pricing you are right there...WWII has a shelf price of $35.00 at Best Buy and i picked it up for $20.00, had I had to pay $35 I would have gotten the DVD. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Skip As with VHS once the mainstream falls into place the outside elements will fall into play over the next 2 years after that. You got to remember these certain things are not market deciders and only have small audience. Blu-ray as i see it will take the reigns by the end of 2012 and DVD will start to take a back seat but im certainly sure it will still be around till 2015 and even after that ppl will still be buying various titles on the format. I won't be one of them though lol |

| Posted: | | | | DVD is THE platform for movies, and it will always be, at least for anyone who likes older movies. Blu-ray will never begin to approach the number of catalogue titles that DVD released. It's great for newer stuff and huge titles (Gone With the Wind, Wizard of Oz), but very little of the other stuff is likely to ever see Blu-ray. Blu-ray has been a gamer's format from day one, and it likely always will be. The catalogue stuff will go straight to download. If you want to own it, it's the DVD. Laserdisc was always a misbegotten abortion. Flipping discs in the middle of a movie? Good god. I find it hard to imagine a more retarded format. | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |
