I'm trying to contribute sorely needed information for Smokey and the Bandit 1 & 2 and Righteous Kill, but everytime I submit the information it just disappears(!).

This is what I get when I try and 'evaluate' it myself (shortly after submitting)...

"Unable to evaluate the selected contribution

The selected contribution cannot be evaluated since it has already been processed by the Invelos contribution evaluation team."

This has happened twice now. I'm gonna have to give up next time.

I've now discovered that these two titles are locked for some reason.

I can't imagine why. For a start, Righteous Kill has virtually no information in it.

The EANs I'm (trying to) deal with are -
5060052415295 - Righteous Kill
5050582347296 - Smokey and the Bandit 1 & 2

Does anyone know why these have been locked and/or how to unlock them?

I'm trying to add and correct information that has been locked out of being corrected.

I have no idea since I don't have either of the titles... but in the case of Smokey and the Bandit 1 & 2... that sounds like it could be a boxset so the profile should be almost blank. Could that possibly be the case for that one anyway?

No. It is part of a Box Set (The Smokey and the Bandit 'Pursuit Pack'), but has both films on one disc and was also available separately.

There was some merit in the locks system back when we had no voting system - back then, it served to stop endless ping-ponging. But now the voting system (largely) takes care of that, so we really don't need locks anymore. Certainly some fields simply shouldn't be allowed to get locked at all - cast and crew spring to mind, as, due to our "most-credited form" common names, they're never ever done. At any given moment, the CLT balance for one of the included names could shift, and then the profile needs updating. As such, those fields shouldn't ever be locked.

As for the problem at hand - I suggest raising a support ticket, asking Invelos to lift the locks of these profiles.

Okay, will do. Was just hoping there was a quicker way as I already have one ticket still pending for my "Fresh Prince Season 3" problem of the 16th.

Done. Two more tickets pending.

You did not, by any chance, submit "new" birthyears (BY checkbox!!) did you?
Because if this is the case your contribution is lifted directly to second level validation (means Ken is doing this).
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I think goblinsdoitall is correct. (Wouldn't be a BY for Joe Greene by any chance? I submitted that yesterday for the US version. Got approved today)

If a field for title is locked, you're not able to submit the change for that field at all

If you're indeed contributing a not-yet-accepted birth year - signalled by the fact that you need to tick the checkbox for it's inclusion - then it's standard procedure that the contribution is not up for voting, but is "promoted" to second level review instead. Note that such contributions may take significantly longer to get evaluated than regular ones.

I checked up on 5060052415295, and it's indeed not locked, but your contribution notes reveal that you did include a birth year for Curtis Jackson. If that's all, then you should just resubmit and wait until it gets processed, and not be worried that you can't evaluate the contribution - that's normal behaviour for contributions with not-yet-accepted birth years in them.

Thanks for that. You're all right, of course. I hadn't considered the BYs. I was actually submitting one for Mike Henry (Which has now stopped being a checkbox, so should go through now.) and Curtis Jackson (which I've given up on for now.)

Curtis Jackson is rapper 50 Cent, his BY is readily available all over the internet and probably mentioned in his songs too I believe.

The problem isn't documenting what his birth year is, but why we need it. For such a birth year to be accepted, you'd have to show that there's a second Curtis Jackson in the database as well.

Good point, I can't think of any.
I did notice another name that needs a BY (forgive me if he already has one, but in my local he doesn't). Brian Cox the actor vs Brian Cox the visual effects supervisor who I already have on 6 titles (Matrix, Ghost Ship, Pitch Black and Sniper, then a producer on Pulse and Pulse 3 that might be our acting friend).
