Looking for the title of a 80's (I think) horror movie.

Some years ago, a Norwegian TV station had regular horror showing Friday nights. Mostly Paramount titles, like the first 8 Friday the 13th, Pet Sematary 1 & 2, April Fool's Day, My Bloody Valentine etc.

Anyway, there was one movie where I fell asleep after 15-20 minutes, and I haven't been able to figure out what movie it was. Hopefully some horror aficionados here can help out.

If I'm not mistaken, an army (nazi maybe, but I could be wrong) go exploring (or take shelter) in an old abandoned temple (I think it's an Inka Temple in Peru). They discover some kind of shaft, or door in the wall, which seems to be an entry to a dark bottomless pit. I think one disappears (or killed) by some kind of dark matter/entity when putting his head into the shaft.

That's basically all I can remember (and it might not be 100% correct) before I fell asleep. I would love to actually watch it, even though I fell asleep partially of boredom.

Thanks  Too bad it's not on DVD. Although I didn't know that was the movie I was looking for, I've kept an eye on it for years, hoping it would turn up on DVD. The laserdisc (which is letterboxed) is probably expensive.

Strange it hasn't been released on DVD with such a wellknown director and cast.

What about this:
http://stores.videovintage.com/-strse-27/The-Keep-%281983%29-WIDESCREEN_DVD/Detail.bok
http://markshorrordvdemporium.webeden.co.uk/
http://www.inetgiant.co.uk/AdDetails/The-Keep-Michael-Mann-DVD---rare-horror-on-DVD/1488940

.. But as I read on some sites, it seems Michael Mann and Paramount argue and that's why this movie official never was released on DVD. (and perhaps never will)

yeah, it's probably expensive now. I own the old VHS edition, but I have the widescreen laserdisc transferred to a DVD-R from a friend. It looks pretty good, but the audio is a little low in a few parts of the movie for some reason.

The original "The Keep" book by F. Paul Wilson is also worth reading.
