I think the BulkEdit plug-in allows you to import from excel. Check out  http://mysite.verizon.net/vze39sc9/mediadogg/id14.html

Hi Betty_Boop, welcome to the forum & DVDP. Although woodg has point you in the direction of a plug in that could import your excel listed DVD's it won't help with the coreect version of DVD that you may have, because of the title of your DVD may have one of several EAN/UPC 's.
It doesn't take long to tap in the EAN's via the numerical keypad, and at least that way you will have the correct EAN for your DVD's.

A well meaning but erroneous post. In fact BulkEdit has a locality guessing algorithm that gets the locality correct 70% or more of the time, thanks to the efforts of Mithi and others who helped out during the DVDSpot migration project.

So, if you want to try an automated approach, take a look at the plugin "CSV Export" column format and use that as a guide to building your Excel columns for BulkEdit import.

Also, what is often overlooked is that manual entry leads to the enevitable manual entry of personal information such as notes, reviews and purchase info. Even if BulkEdit gets the ProfileID wrong, your personal data is preserved until the ProfileID is corrected. (ProfileID = upc.locality).

The other way to look at is, if you already have the UPCs typed into a speadsheet, why would you want to type then in again?

Note, if you have no personal data, the plugin "UPC Import" (is this still available???) is a fast way to automate importing a list in Profiler 3.5. This feature is also built into the 3.6 Beta without the need for a plugin.

as snarbo said, 600 dvds really wont take that long, you'd be suprised how fast it would get done if you just spend a couple minutes a night, probably less time than getting the data imported and then verifying the profiles match the copy you have.

you can also buy a cheap barcode scanner online from ebay or such. The CueCat seems to be what most people use and can be had for around $10 from ebay

If it was me, as it's only 600 titles it may be quicker to just sit by the numerical pad and tap them in, it shouldn't take to long, would take less time using your plug in - then maybe correcting any incorrectly identied titles? But then you'd have to check each and evey EAN to be sure, so if you've got to do that anyway why not just type in the EAN's

I think you are correct. Just a matter of style. Whether you type in the EANs into a list and import, vs. typing them in one at a time and selecting the correct locality/title. Either way, you have to type them in. There must be some advantage to the bulk load, as there are now three ways to do it. The Beta 3.6 has addded the equivalent of the old UPC Import plugin, which is also the lowest level of import functionality of BulkEdit. Type in the UPC/EANS, do the import, do a "refresh", and basically you have the entire database built in a matter of minutes. Then, at your leisure, you go in and fix the profiles that didn't refresh properly. Overall, the same amount of work.
