Where this is not a pre-release.... anything other then the film credits would be against the rules for contribution purposes.

Not sure why you would ask as you have been around long enough to know it isnt so I am confused...is this film lacking credits?

With the way the rules are written... if there is no credits on the film what so ever (be the first time I ever seen that!) then the profile couldn't have credits per the Rules.

Well you could do cast with Uncredited with the official site as a source. But Crew wouldn't be allowe3d at all.

huh! I may have to rent it again to be 100% sure.

I was just wondering because it has not been profiled yet and someone is trying to profile it but it is being denied.

Thanks

Are you sure?  I may very well be mistaken, but I recall seeing something scrolling by after a long time of blackness.  I wasn't paying attention at first, but after awhile there was a massive list of names (probably from the website to push the film into mainstream markets), but I thought there were standard credits before the list.  Like I said, I could be wrong, and since I rented it from Redbox, I don't have the disc to verify it.

Exactly as I said, I would have to rent it again to be 100 %, I rented from redbox too.

The massive list of names is probably this: http://horrorblips.dailyradar.com/story/get-your-name-on-the-paranormal-activity-dvd-credits/

as far as if it has standard credits, I only saw it in the theater and don't recall seeing credits but a) i could be remembering wrong and b) they could have added them for the dvd\blu-ray release.

I thought they didn't have credits though to make it seem real

This is from Roger Ebert's review of the film:

""Paranormal Activity" is an ingenious little horror film, so well made it's truly scary, that arrives claiming it's the real thing. Without any form of conventional opening or closing credits, it begins by thanking "the families of Micah Sloat and Katie Featherston" and closes with one of those "current whereabouts unknown" title cards and a screen of copyright notices."

While the official website would be a good source for the cast, listed as uncredited, the crew can't be entered at all.

If there are indeed no credits on-screen, but there's an official website neatly presenting full cast and crew credits, then I would personally be very happy if I could download that data from the database rather than having to enter it myself, yes. We've been over this many times before, by the way (latest round here, 'Spooks' is also a good example), and this probably won't be the last time either...

Maybe we can use paranormal activity instead of common sense or "logic", to decide on all the difficult questions bothering us when making contributions. Just take a ouija board...

Agree with T!M. It may take a PM to Gerri to get it accepted but to me that sounds like the best option.

I, too, would be very happy if I could download that data from the database.  Unfortunately, the rules, as written, do not allow this...at least not for crew.  As I said the last time, if Ken or Gerri want to make an exception for this situation, I would not object.

Just to clear it up, in case there is any left over confusions, there are absolutely NO credits, in either the film's opening or closing credits for this title. I watched it a few days ago, and ended up scratching my head over the lack of credits (I fully intended to submit them for the profile). No cast, no crew, nothing.

The long list of names presented at the end of the film (after the gap of blackness) is a list of thanks. Probably the link that was posted (but I didn't click it, so I don't know), but yeah, no credits, just a bunch of thanks (maybe for the people that voted for the film to open wide instead of limited?).

As of right now, I've simply added all the cast and crew into my local and locked it. Sucks that it has to be this way (the actors could get put in as uncredited), but that's the way it is.
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.
