I was looking at this release... and I couldn't decide which is correct per our current rules.

Going strictly by the front case my first thought is that Mystery of the Wax Museum should be a bonus movie. It seems to me going by that front cover they are trying to sell House of Wax and that Mystery of the Wax Museum is no more then a bonus.

Then I looked at the rear cover...

Mystery of the Wax Museum is not listed in the Bonus Material... but it is mentioned in the overview of the main release. having me think that maybe boxset may be the right choice for what seems to me to be a bit of an oddball release.

As it is now in the database as a boxset... I don't want to change it without being sure on the matter.

Also.. If this is a boxset... since the title comes from the case per Rules... I do believe the current title could be wrong for the release... as it is in the database as House of Wax / Mystery of the Wax Museum.

So 2 questions here....

1.  Is this a boxset or a bonus movie release
2.  If it is a boxset... what should the title be per rules going by the front cover?

I would have it set up as a bonus movie.

I also think that a lot of the older releases that are set up as box sets should be treated as bonus movies instead of boxsets. (Like the Maltese Falcon for instance). But that is my opinion and the rules aren't very clear since the box set part of the rules doesn't consider bonus movies at all. Bonus movies are just mentioned in the disc feature part of the rules.

According to the text on the back cover (at the top) this is "A (Diabolical) Double Bill", thus a box set. That also enables you to contribute relevant details of the second movie.

I believe the rear cover clearly indicates this is a double-feature, thus a boxset.

The title looks correct to me, as those are the two titles listed on the front cover.

That is part of the reason why I think it could be a boxset but not sure on the fact.

But you are aware of the bonus movie feature aren't you? With it I am able to add all relevent info to the profile. The bonus movie would be a child profile attached to the main movie profile. So instead of 3 profiles (boxset) there are only 2 profiles (Bonus Movie).

Boxset:
- Parent profile (Pretty much empty)
--- Child profile (House of Wax info)
--- Child Profile (Mystery of the Wax Museum info)

Bonus Movie:
- Parent Profile (House of Wax info)
--- Child Profile (Mystery of the Wax Museum info)

To be clear, setting it up as a "Bonus Movie, you are actually creating a boxset, except that the parent profile contains all of the info about the "main" title, it also contains the Disc IDs for both discs and the title of the bonus film in the "Other Features" area and it contains the Disc ID for the "bonus film" in the "Boxset Contents" section..

The title on the front is the title of the DVD and I don't see how you can argue that "Also includes the 1933 Technicolor Original Mystery of the Wax Museum" as being part of the title.  We do not use the Overview to determine the title of the DVD, we use the front cover.  Given that, the title is "House of Wax".  If so, then "Mystery of the Wax Museum" would be a bonus film as part of the release.

I'm not sure that I would change the on-line at this point, but that's how I'd set it up in my local database.

That is what I think I am going to do in this particular case. Not worry about the online and just fix it to my liking locally.

Just out of curiosity, is it a 1-disc release or a 2-disc? I own the region 2 release and that's a 1-disc release and not double sided. So even if it would be a box set, there is only one disc ID.

I agree with this...Bonus Movie.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I agree with Hal and MadMartian. I would handle this release as a film with a bonus film too.
