I have a boxset with 8 different movies. The boxset comes with a UPC, and there are only the DVDs in the case, with no cover, no individual UPC or anything.

I need to create the boxset (does not exists), with 8 movies as children. When I insert the DVDs and do an add by Disc ID, half of them show as already in the database, and half do not show (even though a search by title show them under different Disc ID).

Now the questions:
- How should I enter the DVDs for which the Disc ID already show? If I add them as such, the DVD cover is going to show even though there is no cover for individual movies in the boxset, and they will show with an incorrect UPC (there is none for the individual discs in the boxset)
- How should I enter the DVDs for which the Dis ID does not show a match? Using an existing name entry is probably not correct.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

For the ones that already exist, for contribution purposes, you have to use the profiles that come up.  This is not an uncommon istuation and, for your local, you can change them to match what you own.  You can not, however, contribute that data.

For the ones that do not come up, you simply create the profiles exactly as you would any new profile...just using the disc ID.

Add them as such. You can only put differrent scans locally. I'm sorry, but there's no other way.

Add it as new profile with Disk Id.  [menu "DVD" -> "Add to collection" (first menu point), then add inserted disc]
Then you can make a whole new profile. For the special rules for a profile see

Parent profile as usual over UPC.

To clarify, do these already exist in the DB entered by disc ID or does the disc ID exist under another UPC? If the former, you are stuck with what you have, but if the latter you can still add by disc ID.

The easiest way woudl be to download the existing profile, then use the "change UPC" option in the DVD menu to change it to the Disc ID of the disc, then update any information that differs & submit. To do it from scratch, follow VirusPil's link.

The latter: I find a UPC when I enter the Disc ID. So as nothing limits to have the same Disc ID for different DVDs, I should be OK

Ok, if I follow the download suggestion, I assume that DVDP will recognize it as a a Disc ID and not a UPC. Correct? In this case if I delete/replace the scans, I would assume it should not impact the original UPC as I will be creating the profile with a Disc ID and no UPC. Correct?

Sorry to (maybe) state the obvious, but I do not want to submit something wrong.

Thanks

You would go into the change UPC dialog, then click the checkbox to use the disc ID of the disc in the drive.
