Clarification for box sets |

| | Posted: | | | | I just read the contribution rules for box sets and was surprised to read that one shouldn't include the Disc IDs for the box set profiles, although all of the sets I checked in my collection do carry this Disc ID data.
Thus I just wanted to ask for clarification, how it should be done. Should the Disc IDs be set in a box set profile or just in the child profiles? |

| | Posted: | | | | The disc ID's are included withing the parent profile under box set contents, They are not included within the area for disc ID's. Depending on the box set that you are cataloging, will depend on whether the child profiles have disc id's or UPC. Many box sets are slip cases with individual keep cases within that very well have the UPC's on the keep case. In this case, the box set contents will have the UPC's of the child profiles. If the box set has only discs, then the child profiles will be cataloged by Disc ID's. Then this will be what is included in the box set contents. The child profiles, whether cataloged by UPC or Disc id, will have the disc ID within the discs section of the profile. I hope this is clear, at least of mud  |

| | Posted: | | | | To add to this. We had two types of box sets: films - which should not have disc-ids in the parent, and TV box sets that should have the disc-ids in the parent. The history of why we do it this way is long and full of blood.  Ok, not so bloody, but some people don't like to use child profiles for TV programs, so they need all the data in the parent profile. pdf | | | Paul Francis

Because if they are, that's correct. The contribution rules for TV sets are different. Welcome to the Asylum, BTW! |

| | Posted: | | | | Hi, Thanks for the answers! I was referring to the Disks section of the profile, not the box set contents. I checked and incidentally all of the box sets I had previously looked at were series, so all is good.  Btw, what should I do, if I encounter a box set with Disc IDs in the Disk section and it's not a series. Clear the IDs from this section and contribute the changes? |
