| | Posted: | | | | Has anyone else seen this. I bought The Spirit at Sam's Club last night and it has a sticker over the actual barcode with a different UPC. In the past I have seen different stickers for the UPC attached to the cellophane wrapper but never on the actual printed UPC that appears on the back cover. |

Typically, the store wants to track a certain shipment differently so they put their own UPC on it.

It's most likely a printing error and instead of reprinting all the labels they just put a sticker with the correct barcode. Is it on the actual paper or on the dvd cases clear plastic? Not that this is a contribution question but I'd use the sticker to enter it. The barcode likely either won't scan (invalid) or is in use by another dvd

He said it's not on the cellophane wrapper though so unless the store unwrapped them, put a sticker on, then rewrapped them I doubt it's done by the store (would be a lot of work) Like I said, I'd be interested to know if it's on the paper or the case though -Agrare |

Just bought the two seasons of Tru Calling, $13 each, and there was a gummed UPC on top of the UPC for the first season. Took some care, but it came off the box smoothly. I've had a harder time when this is on a regular keepcase DVD cover, i.e. on paper. I don't think this has anything to do with misprints, just the desire to track the repriced items separately. (Though it's curious they didn't do the same thing to the second season.) |

I've also had a few with a new UPC stuck to the outside of the keep case over the original. I usually leave that one in place, but I pull out the insert to see the real UPC and go with that one. On Black Friday at Wal-Mart I bought The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008). Like Lord of the Sith's deal, this UPC is stuck on the paper insert in the keep case. I tried to carefully remove it, but it wasn't coming willingly. I gave up and just left it and used that UPC. |

Especially if you can not remove it without damaging the cover. On the other hand, in that situation it is unlikely to be a store issue, and more likely a "repair" by the original distributor. By the way, DVDP allows two contributions with different UPCs, ti is the reverse that is the real problem. | | | | Hans |
