Got a wierd problem with the Blu-ray Complete Matrix Trilogy (UK version 7 321900 220453)....

My player is an LG-BD390 with the latest firmware (Version 529)

When I insert any of the discs, it starts, shows the FBI warning screen, then the Warner Home Video logo, then appears to get "stuck" for about a minute in some sort of "loading..." screen with a rotating disc, and then starts to play the movie, completely bypassing the disc menu. I can't get at any of the extras at all.

Anybody else had this problem? or seen something similar?

Most Warner Home Video releases do this. They start playing the movie first and then once the movie is over, you are sent to the disc menus. If you hit the menu button on your remote while the movie is playing, you can access the disc's menus.

How strange.....I don't recall seeing this behaviour on my WBHV DVDs. I checked out our other three ( )  Blu-rays.....well, we're new to this format and have had the LG player for less than a month!

The others are from Sony, 2 entertain and the new Harry Potter from WBHV; all of them bring up the Main menu "as I would have expected them to do".

Soooo..., going back to the Matrix, I did as you suggested and ran up the movie. The LG remote has a button called DISC MENU....pressing it produces a red circle+diagonal line, but no Main menu. However it also has a button marked TITLE/POP-UP, which cleverly brings up a popup menu and thus enabled me to get to the Main menu and hence to all the extras and stuff.

So I can get there in the end but by a somewhat circuitious route.

Cheers

Chris

Can't you get the menu to open 'while' the movie is playing and then go from there??
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Yes, you can...which cmaeditor did say.  Terminator Salvation plays the same way.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

don't forget that menu's for blu ray's tend to be a pop up - dvds always had separate menu screens but blu rays have the menu coming up over the main screen so you can select additional features designed to run whilst looking at the main picture - like PIP etc.

Well I did say we were new to the Blu-ray game with our magnificant collection of, um, six....

I do find it a bit strange that they don't open up with a menu. Seems a bit odd that you actually have to start the movie running in order to get at the special features,  but if that's what then do then that's what they do, and I have now discovered what the TITLE/POP-UP button does...that's progress

I suppose I was more concerned that either the discs were faulty (but it would have been one heck of a coincidence that they were all duff), or morelikely, that I'd screwed up a firmware update...

so all is cool
