The last improvement of DVDProfiler is already 1 year old (Dec'08).

The expected iPhone version was never issued...

Is this nice piece of software going to die?

Ken not long ago announced that the next 3.6 beta will be relaced on Monday - http://invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=415974.

As for the iPhone version, I can't remember where but he did say that it's still in development.

It's most certainly not dead.

OMG, the natives are so restless.

Pizzo, you obviously have not been keeping with developments. First youui refer to the expected IPhone version. Expected? On whose time frame...yours or the program developer. Keep in mind that Ken Cole is but one man, and he develops the profiler Local, the Online database, the current Mobile version, the Iphone version AND the upcoming DVDProfiler Plus. So, be patient, it will come it comes.

I'm really looking forward for an iPhone version.
If you like or not, there are millions of such devices worldwide and the number is growing.

I understand Ken has no help in the development, but nowdays months like years compared to 5 years ago.

Regarding version 3.6, I'd like to get more filtering options.
For instance, there is no way to get a list of a certain case (snapper, sjb, etc) which is a major point for a collector.
I have to keep manually a list of my snapper because dvdp cannot do it!

Moreover there are alternatives to dvdp and no improvements may result in a loss of users.

Well if it is a major point, why do so few people ask for it?
E.g. I don't like snappers, but as I collect movies, not media-cases I don't have any need keeping track of the snappers.
For (presumed, I admit) minority-function ... thats were the Plugins come in, have a look at 'Database Query' it might give you what you want.

define: manually. Do you keep a separate lists or do you tag them manually?
You are aware of the tag-function?

Well, I can only repeat my stance: as all alternatives are only data-scrapers, they are no alternative to me.

Supplemental: Indeed does Database Query filter on CaseType, so another field Ken doesn't has to plow

I wasn't going to add anything, but mithi raised an interesting point ...snappers. I have to agree, knowledge about snappers is good for ONE thing and one thing only...a snapper case is guaranteed to be an ORIGINAL release. Snappers are long dead, thank God, I know of no one still using them. I would think any collector worth his salt would know that without an IPhone.

The IPhone will come when Ken has it ready for testing, getting impatient won't hurry the process along. The number of units in use has already played its role, getting an IPhone version developed.

As to Mithi's remark about altenative versions...I couldn't agree more.

Just be patient, Pizzo. It will come when it comes.

Finding Snappers is pretty easy actually.

Filter on studio: Warner Bros. Pictures
Sort by DVD release date.

I'll bet all the oldest releases will be the vast majority of your Snapper cases.

That's how i'd do it.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Warner wasn't the only studio that used snappers, but I agree tags is the way to do it. I already use tags for tracking digibooks.

The iPhone version can't be released until there is support for it in the program.  I can't remember where, but I believe Ken said IPhone support would be included in the next release...which is scheduled for a full beta release on Monday.
