"Written for the screen by"
I'm thinking this is "writer" credit, but want to make sure since the word "screen" makes it possible to be "screenwriter".

Tried searching but got nothing, and don't have the patience to keep going back until I find it.

So I say "writer", am I right?

Generally this would be Screenwriter I would say.
It suggests that the movie script is "written for the screen" from some other source material (a book or some other original source of the story/characters... being told.)

Do you have a specific DVD in mind (no doubt you do) - do you think the story is original or based on something earlier? If the latter then "Screenwriter" is probably it.

No, it's not only you.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Not only both of you.

Not just the three of you.

For me, 'Writer' is reserved for a credit of 'Written by'.  The addition of 'for the screen', to me, makes this credit 'Screenwriter'.

This'd be a good one to be added to the Credited As box for Screenwriter in the rules, though, since it comes up often enough to be relevant but not so often that anyone can remember for certain how it should be handled.

Agreed. It's one of those things that's basically on the tip of your tongue when you see it, but you just can't be 100% sure, so you refer to the rules, and it ain't there. Pain in my butt.
