Hi,

it seems that the wrong locality appears in database (for the above mentioned profile). Should be UK not US according to the rating logo and the distribution information on the cover.

btw. I get the following error, while trying to contribute on the existing profile:

This profile cannot be contributed due to the following errors:

    * The SRP denomination type is incorrect.

Can somebody confirm? If yes, how to change the locality in the database? Do we have to re-contribute the whole profile?

You have to change the locality via the menu DVD -> Change locality. Then contribute, and you have created the correct locality. This will be processed as a new entry in the database.
After you've done that, you'll have to mark the wrong locality (US) for deletion.

  • For the title use: "Invelos: Please delete this profile from the database".

  • Change the SRP to US Dollars (that's what botched your contribution).

  • Contribute.

  • Put this in the notes:
    Quote:

Invelos: Please delete this profile from the database.
Wrong locality. Please use the correct upc from the United States, or change to locality United Kingdom, and check if there are any updates to the profile.
The UK profile has been submitted to the database, and should be available in a few days.

In about a week, the incorrect US profile will be deleted from the database, and the only correct entry will be the UK locality.

Out of interest, do the people who have the incorrect profile in circumstances such as these get informed that it is up for deletion apart from under the 'voting procedure screen'?

I don't think I have any like this personally, just a question out of interest.

I've seen several entries that have the wrong locality set, mostly added to the UK. The only place that I've seen them marked for deletion is in the usual contribution voting screens.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing.

It's the only reason I haven't actually submitted a couple of dvds that were originally in my collection with the wrong locality for deletion (instead just doing as suggested and creating a new, correct profile). I don't want any poor users to just have a dvd deleted from their collection one day.
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Well, if they regularly vote for updates, they will see that the title is changed to "Invelos: please delete etc.". Users who don't vote for updates, won't notice anything at all. You don't get a popup "title deleted from database" or something like that.

What sucks? Removing incorrect titles from the database? If so then it doesn't suck IMHO, it helps to improve it. Really, I doubt that local collections would change. What I imagine would happen is that any changes that were submitted would be treated as new contributions again.

No, it sucks that a title I own could get deleted from the database and me not knowing. Yeah, incorrect titles should absolutely be deleted from the database, but there should be a way to transfer the data over to the new, accurate title in case someone missed the vote.

Well as I said, I believe that local databases won't be changed by the deletion so you can just correct the locality and resubmit, providing adequate notes of course.

    I should think so!

Well, I fear we will finally have equal profiles (different in locality of course) under the same UPC in the database afterwards. Therefore I believe we should be able to tag "wrong profiles" in some way for deletion.

That's why I would follow marcelb7 suggestion at the moment.

I've submitted the correct UK profile and flagged the incorrect US profile for deletion. As a bonus, I copied the crew and cast from the existing UK DVD (5060034576235) to the UK HD-DVD profile.

I am a tad confused but, how do people get the wrong profiles into their system in the first place?

Same here, re-submitted with added Dsic Id and corrected Studios and Media companies. Sorry, next time I'll check, whether there is a update pending. But maybe it's better to be on the safe side

I imagine they just pick the errant one from the available releases when adding a DVD.  It happened to me a week ago:  I added a profile with a typo UPC, realized it, downloaded the correct one and submitted a delete submission for the error.  I could easily have failed to see the error.

For people whose first language isn't English, it's sometimes confusing what the difference between 'locality' and 'country of origin' is. I see a lot of entries where the two are switched.

And a few years back, when localities were introduced, a conversion was made, resulting in a lot of incorrect entries. There's still a lot of them lingering in the database.
