It is once again time for my annual 25 Days of Christmas Marathon. Every year between Dec. 1st and Dec. 25th I am sure to watch at least 1 Christmas Movie, Christmas Special or Christmas episode per day. This year I think I will concentrate more on TV episodes then Movie. But I still plan on watching some of both.

Looking Through my Collection I seem to have 20 Christmas Movies/Specials and 105 Christmas TV Episodes to choose from. So let the Holiday fun begin...

The X-Files: Season 6 - How The Ghosts Stole Christmas
Mulder convinces Scully to put aside her gift wrapping on the night before Christmas to help him stake out a reputed haunted house.

My Thoughts:
Not only is this one of my favorite Christmas episodes to watch each year... it is one of my favorite episodes of X-Files. This episode has 2 big named guest stars in Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin. How The Ghosts Stole Christmas takes place in (and some outside) a haunted house the entire episode only has the 4 actors in it. And I think they all did a great job.

My Rating: 4.5/5

I have it on my list at least... am I remembering correctly that Amends from season 3 was the only Buffy Christmas episode?

I Love Lucy: Season 6 - Christmas Show
The Ricardos and the Mertzes spend Christmas Eve decorating a tree and remembering moments that led up to the birth of Little Ricky.

My Thoughts:
Next I thought I would go with a Blast from the Past and watch the only Christmas episode of I Love Lucy. I thought it was cute how Lucy and Ricky explained to Little Ricky why Santa don't come till after he goes to bed and better yet the how Santa comes down the Chimney with no stairs. I think it was a good mixture of Christmas scenes and scenes from Lucy pregnancy and birth of Little Ricky. While I may have preferred a strictly Christmas episode, I did enjoy how they did it.

The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries: Season 2 - Will the Real Santa...
The distinction between who's naughty and who's nice becomes blurred as Nancy works to restore the honor of a gentleman who is accused of burglary -- and who claims to be Santa Claus.

My Thoughts:
Now this one is a real trip down memory lane! I used to love this show when I was no more then a little tyke. This is one of the episodes that Pamela Sue Martin played Nancy Drew (Janet Louise Johnson [AKA Janet Julian] took over shortly after). And she happens to be my favorite Nancy Drew to date. This is a good episode. It is strong on the holiday spirit... at the same time has a good mystery. Actually it has 2 mysteries. One being the Christmas Burglar and the other being the two men that are following Griffin throughout the entire episode. After having this set for a couple years now... this episode is becoming a regular addition to my Christmas Marathon.

Joining you in your marathon!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas
You know the story - a mean old Grinch plots to steal Christmas from the happy Whos down in Whoville.

My Thoughts: The season just isn't the season without The Grinch!  Justifiably holds its place as a Christmas classic, and it's just as delightful at 34 as it was when I was 4.  A perfect way to start off the month!

Bones: Season 1 - Man in the Fallout Shelter
The team is quarantined and must remain in the lab over Christmas when the examination of a corpse trips the building's biohazard system.

My Thoughts:
This is an excellent episode. Bones has a great cast that has wonderful chemistry together. I think this was a very good way to do a Christmas episode for this series. The story was well done... I really liked the hologram Christmas Tree Angela made... as well as all the gifts they made for each other. Not to mention the case they were working on... they even made it good for the season. Definitely one I would recommend.

Christmas in Connecticut
Elizabeth Lane writes a magazine column of home, hearth and family, with luscious recipes and bucolic farm life.  She's actually an upscale city girl who can't actually boil water and gets all her recipes from her friend Felix.  But she needs to do something, because her boss has invited himself and a returning war hero to her home for Christmas!

My Thoughts: A helping of screwball styled comedy mixed with a delightful (if lightweight and very fast) old-fashioned romance.  Sydney Greenstreet and S. Z. Sakall steal all the scenes they're in with two wonderful performances.  Hollywood just doesn't make movies like this any more.

My Rating: 3/5 (a good movie, solidly entertaining, worth watching)

A Very Brady Christmas
Mike and Carol Brady decide to spend their savings on bringing their kids and relatives in for the holidays, but the kids are having their own problems: Greg (now a doctor) has to make the trip alone since his wife Nora is spending the holidays with her family; Peter is embarrassed to bring his girlfriend home since she is his boss; Bobby is hiding the fact that he dropped out of business grad school to race cars; Marcia's husband, Wally, has been laid off from his job at Tyler Toys; Jan and stuffy husband Phillip are separating; and Cindy is tired of the fact that mom and dad can't respect her as a grown woman. Just another day in the life of the Bradys.

My Thoughts:
For some reason I like the Brady Bunch reunion movies more then I do the actual series. This one in particular. For some reason this movie gets me in the mood for Christmas. Something that has been difficult for me the past several years. Seeing a large family celebrating Christmas of my childhood Holidays where I was the youngest child of a large family. It was fun to see most of the cast back after all the years that past. The reunion movies in this complete series set is the main reason I bought the complete series set... instead of the individual seasons. Since that is the only way to get them.

Bones: Season 3 - The Santa in the Slush
It's up to Bones to save Christmas when the body of a shopping mall Santa named Kris Kringle seems to be the real McCoy.

My Thoughts:
Another very good episode of Bones. There was a lock of good jokes on how this guy appears to be the real Santa and Christmas. But I think my favorite part of this one is when Caroline would help Brennen get the trailer for her father's Christmas only if she kissed Booth for at least 5 seconds under the mistletoe. When this scene happens... Brennen said it is like kissing her brother... and Caroline says "You must really like your brother."  Laugh

Hamtaro: "Merry Christmas" & "The Snowball Fight"
The Ham-Hams are looking forward to presents from Santa for Christmas ... but Boss and Snoozer are wild hamsters who've never had Christmas before.  Will Santa here the Ham-Hams prayers and bring Boss and Snoozer presents this year?  And then after a thick snow fall, the Ham-Hams head out to have fun in the snow building igloos and snowhams, sledding and having a snowball fight.

My Thoughts: I admit it, I love cartoons.  This was an adorably cute little show, and its a shame it didn't do better over here.  I really want a full box set of it, but I'm not holding my breath.  Anyway, an innocent little diversion for an evening after work.

My Rating: 2.5/5 (an entertaining waste of time)
(subtract 1 point if you don't like cartoons for young children; this is aimed at the 3-7 crowd)
