I have a question: does the program automatically capatalize last names when submitted? I only ask because on my profile for Terminator Salvation, there is an actress making her debut named Jadagrace berry. She is credited in the end credits like that with a lower case b. Well, I initially went with the capatlized last name (and did a credited as with the lowercase "b") but resubmitted as it after a no vote since the CLT results didn't agree (how could it, she's not in the system).

Anyway, I went in, removed that credit and then removed the name from the DB and entered it as "Jadagrace berry" and it shows like this in the profile but when I submitted it it says "Jadagrace Berry". Does anyone know why this happened? I seem to recall other names being lowercased like that but can't remember.

Could be an automated function.

I don't know this actress and what her real name is, but if it is a stage name (like "Madonna", "Bono" or "Cedric the Entertainer") you could enter "Jadagrace berry" in the first-name-field and leave the surname blank.

Quoting contribution rules:
Quote:
If an actor name is only a first name or stage name enter it entirely in the first name field. Examples are Cher, Madonna, Cedric the Entertainer & Queen Latifah.

Afaik DVD Profiler uses an Uppercase letter at the start of every name field, so when entering

edward / james / olmos

I think you get

Edward / James / Olmos

but when you enter

edward james // Olmos

I think you get

Edward james // Olmos

But I can't try it at the moment, because I only run the beta which has contributions disabled.
Maybe someone else knows more.

If I remember correctly, this came up once before.  I believe it was a name with 'de' at the beginning and the program kept changing it to 'De'.  It seems to be an automated filter that capitalizes all names.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Right.  One notorious example is LeVar Burton, who shows up in plenty of credits as Levar Burton.  The program no longer treats those as different names, so you may as well not waste your time contributing changes to capitalization.

I just added a dummy name to my DB from within a profile: aaa//bbb

When i clicked Add Cast Member it was changed to Aaa//Bbb

I then manually edited the last name to: bbb and then went through the motions of contributing.

The submitted name was again: Aaa//Bbb

The other thing i do know is that even if it is capitalized for submission the local remains as you entered it.  Even if the submission is approved and you accept it it will not overwrite the local case.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!
