Hi,

I'm trying to decide on the correct UPC to use for this title.  The actual steelbox case from Bestbuy has 3 UPC codes on it with 094922410900 listed as the Blu-ray combo pack (what I have) or there is a different UPC code on the movie slipcase itself 786936791069.

Which is the preferred one to use?

Thanks

At least, this time, they didn't use the same UPC as the stand alone version...which is 786936-791068...so we won't have to worry about replacing the online images.

Edit: 786936791069 appears to be an invalid UPC.  Are you sure you typed it correctly?

This is already in the database as 094922-410917; which is the UPC on the label under "Free SteelBook Case with UP Pre-Order".

786936791068 is the UPC for the 4 disc standard BD set.  So the trailing '9' may be a typo.

But 786936791068 is for the four disc set NOT the any kind of Steelbook. We don't track cases per se bigdog, this is something local and not Contributable, unless the Steelbook has its own UPC. It is not sold as anything but a blank case, which based on past experience with Disney it may not have.

The way the Steelbook usually works is that you can get it with a Pre-Order of ANY copy of Up, vene if it is only with a Blu-Ray purchase, there are still two Blu-Ray releases neither of which use the Steelbook case AS SOLD. Since it is a blank case that contains nothing, if you want ity in your collection then it can ONLY be locally as there is nothing to use for it.Sorry, bud.

It seems that we are, now, profiling cases as well.  I don't know whether it is because the notes are misleading..."Steelbook Edition"...or if this is a policy shift.  It would, however, be nice to know.

That is correct I did have a typo in the UPC for the 4 disc BD set as others have mentioned. The reason I asked about which barcode to "use" was that on the steelbox it does have 3 unique UPC codes on there, one for the case itself and then 2 others for the different versions of the movie which (atleast for the BD one) is not the same as what is on the slipcase. I don't really care which one is the "approved" ones I just wanted to make sure that is the one I use in my database so it gets updated if/when necessary.  So if the "correct" one to use is the one on the slipcase, fine I'll go with that one then, just wanted to be sure.

Thanks

OK Big, let me try and explain what I understand of as your description and the possible complications of allowing the Steelbook as a Contribution.

The Steel has 3 UPCs one for itself and two more for the two that it is intended to be matched to.

Now, in THEORY, you could make a Contribution of the set that you bought using the UPC for the SteelBook, let's say you bought the 4-Disc, BUT that then closes the door to the user who bought the 2-Disc BD. He wants his in the Online TOO. The ONLY possible answer that comes to mind, and this might not work either, would be a Disc ID style of entry. But eventhere if they used the same BD Disc in both the  4-Disc set and the other one we are screwed again. Which would leave the POSSIBILITY of one Disc ID entry and one entry using the Steelbook UPC, though I am not sure how i feel about that approach, it is the ONLY possible solution, that really would allow for both uses of the Steelbook case. I think it is probably best left as local handling.

Looking at the cover scans for Snow White, which was released this same way, I see what you are saying and you should use the UPC for the case to create the profile.  While I don't like profiles for cases, if we are going to do it, that would be the best way.

If you are going to use the one on the slipcase, you can't submit scans of the steelbook.

agree, the other two UPC's are for the preorder of the blu-ray and dvd. You could also buy the Steelbook seperatly (for $15) in which case just the steelbook upc would be scanned. (there is text right by each upc that says what the upc is for)

I guess it would have been less confusing if they used the same UPC's on the steel case as they did for the slip covers. i.e., the Blu-ray one on both cases was 786936791068 (hopefully no typos this time). Being that is the one that's already in the database (although seems to still need a rear cover scan) I'll just use that one and not even mess with the UPCs on the steel case.

Big:

That would actually make it worse, then what gets the profile the set you buy or the Steelbook extra, the steelbook is Bonus and we don't track cases or bonuses, it SHOULD be handled locally, because not everyone will get the steelbook. I can think of some things that I would like Disney to do in the future but they don't listen to li'l ole me. IF they had a specific UPC for each of sets that were involved in the deal, this UPC uses this UPC on the Steelbook, this other UPC goes witgh the other one, then we have a different ballgame, but one bonus for multiple product possibilities is just a mess.

Snow White while not a direct comparison since the steelbook did not have a UPC is an example of kind of havoc can be created. There were 5 or 6 separate versions Snow White and the Steelbook could have been had with ANY Snow White purchase, not just the BD...which one would get the Steelbook.

While I am continuing to mull this conundrum, big, I think for the moment it has to be just a local issue.

Sorry, what I meant is that I will just the UPC from the slip cover in my collection and just pretend I don't even have the steelbook case. That one already has an online profile other than it missing a rear cover scan.
