We talking about Film or Sound Editors?
Are you local?

That made me
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Well judging by the sheer idiotic bureaucratic nature of this forum and the million interpretations of every single rule. It would not surprise me if you wanted an editor for every filed of info on a single title.

I should have anticipated that and had it made sure it was included in the poll.

Don't we already have screeners that do what is being proposed

I thought strange women lying in ponds distributing swords was the bases of governance here.

I suppose editors are like screeners but more final in decisions with contributions over the mass of everyone's view point on each submission.

Otherwise known as Ken & Gerri Cole? I don't really understand the request. Invelos has it's own screeners who are removed from our discussions here. I've seen contributions go to a second level of consideration, which I assume is Ken & Gerri, but I don't really know. I think we already have what you are asking for except we're not part of it. Everything discussed here is just users giving their opinions. There's nothing binding. The true test is what Invelos accepts in a contribution. Often there's a discrepancy between what Invelos accepts or declines and the decision that "the forum" would have made, but that's the way it is.

There's also the incorrect submission that slips through, which means not everything accepted is 100% following the rules (something I know you know James but thought it couldn't hurt to mention)

I do. It is what it is. As frustrating and confusing as an incorrect acceptance is, we really have to approach it from a macro perspective.

There was at DVD Spot users who where editors. These where about 5 or 8 i think users who delt with every contribution to the database.

That worked very well because it was just a few experts making sure everything going into the database was 100% genuine and accurate.

If it was rejected the editor would leave in the notes the reason why it was rejected saving thread after thread of minor questions.

You still might think that would slow things down but it did not. DVD Spot at the end of it's life had over a 100,000 titles so i have to say in terms of contribution DVD Spot had the better system.

The one thing it need though was locking on titles which had been deemed to have all the correct info to prevent further contributions being made on it and less clutter to go through..

Something which could be done here to.

That is exactly what the screeners do here, except it is done behind the scenes.

Well with such a small DB compared to DVDP I'm sure they could do things differently there.

I rather just let those guys get on with it other than all this voting then.

100,000 is not small and at least when you added something there you did not get the same crap as you do here or the same amount of time you have to wait.

Quite a percentage of your posts have criticised the way things are run here. A large amount of people are more than happy with the way the database is set up & how it's managed. If you don't like it, suggest in a friendly, non-insulting way how things might be improved. Otherwise, you could try keeping your entire collection local only. That way you wont have to deal with all of the "crap".

We have many times that amount of titles here at DVDP and use a similar system...except our experts are Invelos company people and not from the user base. There are many of us who would love to have that role, but for whatever reason, Invelos has always had their own people.

We have that already. Go to Database and View/Edit Locks. It isn't used much since with the evolving program, many prefer to leave the data unlocked. But if enough users feel a lock is warranted, they can get a lock on a data field.
