I have two physical collections one at home and one at our cottage.  I want them all stored in one collection, however we have some duplication.  I cannot add the same title twice and get the profile information.  I have added them manually with no info on the 2nd DVD on the list.  Is there any way to allow the same DVD with different location and different collection #.

There's no built-in feature to do that. One workaround is to change the UPC of the DVD in question (DVD -> Change UPC...) to something imaginary (like 000000000001), and then re-download the profile again. Then you'll end up with two identical profiles, one with the proper UPC and one with a made-up UPC.

The problem with this method is that you won't get profile updates for the profile where you changed the UPC.

I'm sure others will post with additional methods of doing this.

Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles.

Two other ways of keeping information about second DVDs:

Put the information in Notes.

Use Tags.

This will not keep your profile count "correct", but the new release of DVDP has a mechanism that tweaks the counting. I don't know yet of that will help.

Profile Count will be correct in 3.6, where we will have the "Counts As"-Feature.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Another way is to have two databases, one for the collection at home and the other for the collection at your cottage. Just mention this though you said you didn't want seperate collections.

Why not use two databases for two physical collections?

All a single database would tell me is that if I'm at home, the DVD I want to watch is at the cottage -- and vice versa.

Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges.

We loan the DVDs to the cottage and others, so the collection is fluid.  We loan out DVDs from there and from home by using the loan function
