Hi, I just purchased DVD Profiler today and loaded a couple of DVDs to practice.  I'm finding a few things are tough to pick up, as the user help feature is not too helpful

I see that the main groupings seem to be Owned, Ordered, and Wish.  When I own a DVD, I may trade it or give it away, but I'd like to keep it in my collection, but identified as watched, but no longer owned.  How can I do this?

I downloaded the Plug-in 'TradingPoster'.  I flagged a DVD.  But when I selected Collection/Flagged/Tradingposter, I get a message 'there are no flagged profiles'.  What may I be doing wrong?  I assume this is a good way to publish a list of DVDs I'd like to trade.....is there much trading going on?  I used to trade on SwitchPlanet, but it is now defunct....now using Barterbee.

I assume the Collection/Loadset feature is to maintain a set of flagged DVDs, so you can use the flagging option for something else.  How is ithis used?

Thanks everyone,

AugieDog

Not yet but it will be a feature in 3.6 which is currently in early beta state.

You flag the DVDs wou want to have flagged for some reason (e.g. for reports on specific profiles) and save the flag set. If you load it again the DVDs get flagged again.

How exactly did you flag the profiles? Proper flagging happens by selecting the profile and pressing space. Alternatively you can use the mouse if the flag indicators are permanently on (right-click on the collection list to en/disable this feature).

The new Beta version of DVDP will allow you to make your own headings, in addition to Owned, Ordered and Wish List. You can download this version now and play with it. For example I have a section labeled Recommendations for DVDs my friends have told me about.

Once you open DVD Beta 3.6, right click on the Owned, Ordered and Wish List area. You will see a list,
> Other > Edit Collection Categories > Add. You can customize this the way you want.

I've bought many DVDs from this site. I have never been disappointed. The quality has always been like new, the prices reasonable and I always got them very quickly.

Welcome to the forums!

Wow, such helpful info...and so quick!

Regarding the 'TradingPoster' Plugin, I flagged the item several ways (clicking on the upper left corner box, using the right click menu, and the space bar) all successfully flag the item, but TradingPoster still give me the 'there are no flagged profiles' message.

Where can I find Beta 3.6 to download?  If I do this, will my collection/settings/etc all carryover to the new eventually released product?

By the way, this product is very, very cool!  Some features are a bit tough to grasp, but it is quite feature rich.

Thanks again!

I just tested the TradingPoster plugin and don't seem to have any issues with it.  I hit the space bar on a few profiles, got the checkbox next to the title and it worked fine.

To download the beta, visit the Beta Release Testing forum.  Open the first thread there and you'll find a link.  But this is the first 3.6 beta.  I'd recommend playing with it, but I wouldn't trust it as my main database yet.  There may be big changes coming.  Also since you're new, we're supposed to keep all discussions about the beta in the beta forum.  So if you have comments about it, please post them in that forums.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

Thanks again for the tips.  I think I figured out the problem with 'TradingPoster' Plugin.  If you only flagged ONE item, you will get this error message.  If you flag more than one, it works fine.

As for the Beta info, thanks.  I think I'll watch it for awhile.  Will be nice to see the new version.

Have a happy day.

Until the beta goes final you can use tags to keep track of what will need moving into your custom collections when you create them.

Trading Poster has a long known bug (which sometimes gets forgotten, because we're all so used to it):
It only works if you flag at least two titles.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

That it explains it. I installed it yesterday to test it and promptly flagged three random profiles...
