Do all the same rules and stuff apply to music video dvds as well?

Just bought the Canadian locality of Madonna's Celebration DVD containing 47 of her music videos, which is not yet in the system.

I see there's five entries for different localities already in the system.

One has the crew listings contained within the dvd packaging (director's, producers of the actual vidoes and executive producers of the actual DVD).

Four contain no crew credits what-so-ever.

And four contain Madonna in the cast (either with no credit, as Herself or as Madonna).

I’ve looked in the rules and didn’t see anything that specifically mentioned music video dvd’s, if I missed something please point me in the correct direction.

It doesn’t seem right to me that someone like David Fincher can’t be listed in the credits simply because music videos don’t fit the standard Invelos definition of credits, which are really set out to handle films, and not something like music videos which don’t contain any kind of credit system (no crew credits = no credits at all, even if they’re contained in something like an insert, which this collection has). It also doesn’t seem right that in this case, Madonna would have to be listed as uncredited simply because music videos again, don’t contain credits (not to mention other fairly big names in the collection like Mike Myers, Justin Timberlake, Rupert Everrett and Goran Visnjic ).

Either way, I’ll be adding the collection to my local including all the directors, producers, executive producers etc. etc. as well as all the recognizable actors/musicians (including actors appearing in soundtrack videos), but still wanted to get everyone’s thoughts. Since I’ve been here, I haven’t seen this topic covered and was wondering if maybe Music Videos should be handled a little differently than everything else and wanted to hear some thoughts on the subject.

I'm not talking about just regular music dvds (such as like, a concert dvd or something that usually contain credits), I'm talking about Music Video DVDs. So for instance, in this case, the collection contains 47 different videos, including videos such as Like a Virgin, Like a Prayer, Ray of Light, Holiday, Vogue, 4 Minutes, Hung Up, American Pie etc. etc.

Simple answer...yes, the same rules apply.  Does that cause unintended problems?  Yes it does.  Clearly, we are due for some rule revisions.

I would definitely agree. A section pertaining to music videos with possible exceptions (or none if everyone agrees on that) would be nice. Like I said, they're not films. They shouldn't really be treated like them.

Like I said, for now I'll keep all that good info in my local, but it's a shame others won't be able to benefit from it.

The music video itself will not have credits, but often compilation dvd's have a combined credit section.

Britney Spears: My Prerogative (0828766567892) is an example. The credits listed the director of each music video. So, I added them using dividers for each song.

Too bad that's not the case with this one. No credits onscreen anywhere on either dvd. There is credits in the insert that came with it for directors and producers, but again, according to the rules, they're not allowed to be entered as they have to come from the "film" credits only (should I be a big douche and say since these aren't films the rules don't apply?  )

I think this has been fitted within the "don't ask, don't tell" policy for years.
