How would you list the following credit:

Quote:
Special Guests
Thomas Roth
Albert Dannenmann of Die Geyers

That is exactly how the credits read.  Both Roth & Dannenmann are members of the band Die Geyers.

This is on a concert DVD for the band Blackmore's Night.  Roth & Dannenmann are guesting at the concert.  The members of Blackmore's Night are credited above them and they were easy to transcribe.  (example -> Ritchie Blackmore - Guitars, Mandolin, Mandola, Hurdy-Gurdy )

How should I list Roth & Dannenmann:

1:
[DIVIDER]Special Guests
Thomas Roth - Die Geyers
Albert Dannenmann - Die Geyers

2.
[DIVIDER]Special Guests of Die Geyers
Thomas Roth
Albert Dannenmann

3.
Thomas Roth of Die Geyers - Special Guest
Albert Dannenmann of Die Geyers - Special Guest

4.
Thomas Roth - Special Guest, of Die Geyers
Albert Dannenmann - Special Guest, of Die Geyers

5.
Thomas Roth - Special Guest
Albert Dannenmann - Special Guest

These are all the thoughts I've come up with.  Any others, please elaborate!

I'd go for option 5. I think the 'of Die Geyers' is just some extra info, from what i understand, they don't appear as Die Geyers. They are just 2 members of that band.

I'd leave out "Special Guests" anyway, just like we leave out "Featuring", "Co-starring" and all the other qualifications in e.g. TV-episodes. It doesn't mean anything, they were there, or they weren't, that's all that matters.
And I agree with Paul, if the band was incomplete, using a divider with Die Geyers does not make sense.
So just the names, or if you like with '(of) Die Geyers' as a role.

As long as no divider is used, I'm happy
I would maybe use 'Thomas Roth as Himself' since no role is given. But I would definitively not use any divider.

From your given options I would choose #5, but I think that rebyrs approach is the best.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Personally, I have added them to

"Blackmore's Night: Castles & Dreams" (0693723991573) as:

Name                          Role
Thomas Roth              Special Guests: Geyers
Albert Dannenmann      Special Guests: Geyers

"Blackmore's Night: Paris Moon" (693723986173) as:

Name                          Role
Thomas Roth              Special Guests of Die Geyers
Albert Dannenmann      Special Guests of Die Geyers

I do feel they need to be entered since they are present at a lot of shows of the band. I've seen them in 1995 in Belgium, and in 2003 in Holland, and both times Die Geyers were Special Guests.

Chris, I definitely want to list them - just trying to figure out how.

Hadn't even thought of rebyr's approach, but that definitely sounds like a good idea.

So, since I can't edit the poll, do you think it should be just "Himself" or should I keep the information about the band they're from and it be "Himself (Die Geyers)" -> I've seen the latter done in other music DVDs (I think I have one that has the role listed as "Himself (AC/DC)").

I'm good with either #1 or #2.  It's a divider for Special Guests.

I would credit them as follows:

Special Guests
Thomas Roth [Thomas Roth of Die Geyers] as Himself
Albert Dannenmann [Albert Dannenmann of Die Geyers] as Himself

That preserves the credit exactly as credited.

I would not use a divider, I see no reason for it in cases such as this when the credit can be applied directly to the name (and him/herself is totally redundant for music DVDs).

It definitely should not be 2 (Special Guests of Die Geyers) or any similar combination because they are guests of the producers, not guests of Die Geyers.  They aren't guests of themselves after all.
Another Ken (not Ken Cole)

Yeah, that's how I read that sentence too.  I included that as an option as the German locality profile I downloaded with the UPC has them listed that way, but it didn't read right to me.

(Naturally verifying data before submitting and have already discovered some minor differences)

Hmm, with TheMadMartian and Kinoniki both agreeing on Kinoniki's proposed option (and I kinda like it too), does anyone have an objection to that way of crediting these two?

Wouldn't this arise the possiblity that the common name changes to Thomas Roth of Die Geyers? If that hasn't already happened if some of these DVD's are corrected?

And BTW, how would you parse this if this turns into the common name
