In my profile for the film, "The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult," I have come across an actor named Gary Cooper in the cast list (as a Cop). This is obviously not the same actor who starred in such classics as "The Pride of the Yankees" and "High Noon," but my research to correct this has yielded limited results. Checking IMDB, I found another Gary Cooper who has appeared in some films in the'80s and '90s, but, beyond that, I couldn't find a year of birth. All other attempts to find it have failed, as well. Does anyone know who this guy is?

To paraphrase Tim Robbins in The Sure Thing he's the Gary Cooper who is not dead.  Would be great to find a BY for the new Gary Cooper but until an official one is found you can (locally) separate the famous Gary Cooper (1901) from the Naked Gun Gary Cooper by using a dummy birth year for the not-so-famous one or leaving him without while using one for any profiles with the famous Gary Cooper listed.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Well, that's what I did, until I find the BY.

Actually Tweeter, since we have one for Gary Cooper (1901), it would be nice to have one for the new one, but not necessary since Gary Cooper and Gary Cooper (1901) are already separated.

Unfortunately, it is necessary, due the way the program deals with birth years. For instance: if you don't add a fake birth to year to the other Gary Cooper, and you're forced to restore your database from a backup, you'll find that both Gary Coopers (the one with and the one without a birth year) are automatically merged back into one single "Gary Cooper (1901)" entry, destroying all efforts you put in to separate them. Having been stung by this once, I can assure you that it's not a good idea to leave one of them without a birth year. If you don't, then sooner or later (even if the need to restore doesn't come from some kind of computer crash, but simply the move to a new one), you're bound to lose all this separation work...

Yup, it's true.  I had the Teddy Wilsons separated in my database - at least, the jazz pianist separated from the two actors (who I didn't know until yesterday were separate actors - I just knew the pianist wasn't in Alien Nation or Bottle Rocket) - but when I looked again after correcting something else in the Jazz profile because it kicked back to me that the birth year wasn't accepted, I saw that they had all been merged together again.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
