I've been through all the mac posts and most relate to intel mac which I don't have, is there a way of getting a copy of my dvds from my online list ?? all my backups etc were on my PC  Any help would be appreciated. | | Posted: | | | | silly question perhaps but does the hard disk of your Windows PC still work? If so, you can put it in a case or in another PC and from there copy the .dpb backup of your collection to another computer.
I don't know if it's possible to run or emulate DVDP on a mac, but what you could always do is create a dual booting computer where you have both Mac OS and Win on one PC, using software like Vcomm's System Commander.
... or just hang on to your .dpb until you have a new Windows PC (which I can understand, isn't the ideal solution) | | | Blu-ray collection

But first of all you really should do as Taro suggested:
Check if your HDD is still working.
Put it into an external HDD-case connect it to your new PC and rescue your data. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

I can download the drivers but I have no way of putting them on a floppy as my PC is dead, go figure  I've been messing around all day trying to set up virtual PC on my mac I got as far as installing virtual PC but it won't let me install windows on it. All the other emulators I have found are all intel based and my mac is power pc  I'll look up Vcomm's system commander and see if that will work, haven't come across that one yet. and i'll also go online and try the download. Yes, the reason I suggested that is because the 'local only' data (headshots, your own covers, just to name a few) don't get uploaded to the Invelos servers. So I would first try to rescue the .dpb and keep the download option as a last resort. By the way, I always keep a copy of my .dpb on an external HDD. So my collection is on my internal HDD, the backup on an external one (a memory stick would also work). That way, if something happens, you only risk losing a minimal amount of (local) data. Just a friendly suggestion for the future. I was wondering if there is a way of downloading what is online to some other program or as a text file ? If you want your collection in XML or TXT format, as far as I know you'll have to get DVDP up and running again somehow, because it's from there that you can export everything. | | Posted: | | | | The easiest way to get the data from a working HDD in an otherwise dead PC: Go to your local computer store and ask for an empty external HDD-case (USB) with internal SATA connectors (should be around $ 15). Connect the HDD to the external case and plug this to the USB-port of your Mac. I'm not sure if MacOS can read from NTFS. If not you need the help of your friendly neighbour (preferred the one with a PC  ). Ask him if you could plug your HDD to his PC for a moment and burn the content of your "My Documents"-folder to a DVD | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

| | Posted: | | | | If you can gain access to the drive, you can copy the entire database directory off of the old drive and onto the new drive with zero data loss. If not the "default" directory, you'll have to browse to it when you try changing databases. |

Wow thanks Taro, I'm going to give the external hard case a go, I think this will be a good option ( especially if I can sort out an emulator for my mac ) as I mentioned earlier I only used the PC for surfing the net and DVD Profiler (I actually have 3 Macs ) Thanks again to everyones help, fingers crossed today will be a much less frustrating day  | | | For every Great Musician, there was a next-door neighbor who said

Thanks for all your help so far, let me know if you think of something else.... i'll post if I get this sorted Most PC's these day's don't even come with a 3.5 floppy A drive., as the discs themselves barely hold 1.2 MB of space .. But your comment about you are able to download the drivers but the PC is dead, lets me believe you are downloading the drivers to another PC., what about using a CD-R for holding the drivers,, and instead of using sata can you not use IDE cables? if the HD is only setup for sata for your motherboard you must have IDE pins on your board, why not change the sata hookup to IDE and then run your Master HD to your motherboard., this should get you up and running.. ? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. No I'm using my mac, i've tried putting it on a cd, I've tried using a flash drive but it will only look in drive A the cd bit didn't work because I have the windows operating system in that drive and can't eject because it's halfway through loading when I am supposed to insall the drivers  | | | For every Great Musician, there was a next-door neighbor who said
