I have been using a rival's software and would like to try out yours to see if it has any of the features I am looking forward. However as I own approx 2000 DVD's / HD-DVD & Blu Ray movies I am put off swapping over 'cos I don't want to add all of them indvidually.

I have tried exporting a xml file from the other application but there is no way of importing it - I have also got a txt file with all my movies on it but agian I can find no way of importing them.

Any ideas / suggestions / hints greatfully appriciated.

We like to think that DVD Profiler doesn't has rivals, just competitors

Have a look at Migration Assitance. Even if your software isn't one of the two mentioned, it might give you an idea how to treat your XML with the BulkEdit-Plugin.

And while you are testdriving, be aware that the free version only has full functionality up to 50 profiles, so best to import only those 50 to be able to test everything.

Thanks for your quick responce. I will try it out a little later and let you know the results - probably overnight as it will take a few hours I suspect...

Well it took the best part of 5hrs to do it - and managed to import 1700 of my movies - now to add the others and check the information of the rest. But its got to be better than adding all 2000+.

Thanks for your help

Ok, I have figured out why it only imported 1700 of my movies - I can't seem to find a way of adding movies which aren't in the onlinr database.

I have a lot of cycling DVD's which aren't in IMDB or any other online database, on the "other" application there is a way of adding them - but not submitting them - is this the case for DVD Profiler? or am I stumped!

There is a way.
Go to DVDProfiler menu "DVD -> Add to Collection..." In the now opening window choose the "Add by title"- tab. Just make sure to uncheck the "Download from Invelos"-box. When done with this you get a new profile which is completely editable.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?
