Was wondering if and how these should be credited? I added rough translations of them in the brackets.

-Puku- ja maskeeraussuunittelu (Costume & Make-up design)
-Lavastus (Set, Scenery)
-Rekvisitööri (props)
-Puvustaja (Costumer)

Make-Up Artist

This is the most difficult one... You have to understand the context. If they are Set builders, no credit. If they mean the person who designed the set, then Production Designer. If both credits, "päälavastaja" = Production Designer and "lavastaja" = Art Director.

What about Maskeeraaja then? I thought that was Make-up artist, or are they both?

Its the TV-serie Firma. Apart from the assistants and whatnot. Jussi Kuittinen was the only one credited as Lavastus and Rekvisitööri. So id think whatever theres done in the sets, he designed/did them.

Maskeeraussuunittelu = Make-Up Designer
Maskeeraaja = Make-up artist

So by the rules they both are credited as Make-up artist

It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I have found a Finnish document (thesis) about production designer's function in Finnish tv and movie production. It says that the job title production designer as it is used in US productions is strange in Finland. Therefore I think that we should be careful when using this title in Finnish productions. We should not shoehorn Finnish "lavastaja" or any other person who is responsible of "lavastus" into the job title Production Designer if the job descriptions are totally different. Art director is what we are usually looking for.

You can find the document here: https://oa.doria.fi/bitstream/handle/10024/5204/TMP.objres.360.pdf. It is in Finnish. There is a summary in English in page 3.

Very nice article, went to my bookmarks right away. But, now I'm even more confused. If even several years (decades) worked professionals cannot agree with this one, how can we?

Yea quikly read through some parts, and it basicly said that if theres no Production designer, the art director does its job. Which kinda makes it impossible to know, since at least i havent seen anyone credited with english professions

How about we just decide upon these things and go and tell these professionals how things are

And yes, interesting article, Jykke - thanks.
