Well the Apolo 11 mission is over now,, In Just three weeks we will be blasted by the media with another 40th Anniversary and that was Woodstock .. I remember the news of the day and how it impacted the closing of the sixties for us .. Were you there? Did you live nearby? 
or have any memories of that faboulous three day event.. 

How about the new release of the 40th Anniversary Directors Cut DVD?
Does it totally blow away the older 225 min version of Woodstock???

Must I be reminded. Though i will say...it was a terrific concert. Muddy as ...., but the music was great.

I was a left coaster... attended both the first great 60s rock festival and the one which killed the innocence (Monterey Pops & Altamont).

My first connection with Woodstock was viewing the Dick Cavett shows featuring a few of the performers the days around when they played, and then through the film and the LP set.

Then, in 1972, I received orders to Vietnam. While I was off training at Hulburt Field, I was eating lunch in nearby Fort Walton Beach and I met a helicopter pilot who was teaching new pilots war maneuvers. He spoke of when he was undergoing the training he was now giving (wow -- "now" meaning 1972) he was assigned to fly doctors into the Woodstock Festival and ailing and injured people out. He also got to fly a few performers in and out. He spend a lot of time "backstage" awaiting another flight. He remembered less of the music than of the rain, the mud, the smell of dope, and those who needed and got treatment.

Now the reporting about the concert is by the Wall Street Journal. Just whom I would trust to give an unbiased view of 1969 music.
