Hello,

well it worked since I have it and today sudenly it gives me "Configuration system faild to initialize."
It offers me a DB Repair and I can do that again and again and it always kicks me back to the error.

I use Windows Vista Business 32 Bit (English). Core 2 Duo 2x2,00 GHz, 3 GB Memory, All Updates done, ...

I really could use some help.

Have you recently installed any plug-ins?  The knowledge base says they can sometimes interfere with start-up:

Q: A plugin file is causing errors starting DVD Profiler.
Normally, you can uninstall plugins from Tools->View Plugins. If you can't start DVD Profiler to get to that menu, keep reading.

Answer:
Press and hold ALT while starting DVD Profiler. DVD Profiler will not load any plugins. Then, visit Tools->View Plugins and make sure the offending plugin is not selected. Select OK from that window to save your changes.

Hi,
a few ideas to solve the problem:

- use the default layout of profiler
- deactivate all plugins
- check antivirus or firewall settings (e.g. Threatfire could be a problem)
- reinstall profiler

good luck!

hi and thanks for your posts.

I am able to start with no errors while holding down "alt".
BUT I have no Plugins installed...so the whole thing is a bit strange. It also came about without me changing anything.

It might have something to do with me never turning off my Thinkpad. It always goes to hibernate. Also when DVD Profiler is still open. Normally it works.

Any Ideas?

-) Already tried a reboot.
-) Already reinstalled.

I've not had this exact problem, but I've had similar. Back up your database (and also any images you have stored for use in your notes... I still do epg in the old style). Then do a full uninstall (i.e. Remove database, images, everything it asks you about). Manually check that there are no residual folders. Usually a restart at that point just to be on the safe side. Then reinstall, loading your backup.

The full uninstall part is important. You don't want to accidentally leave the any troublesome settings behind to interfere with your new install.
