Is there a way to add multiple movies by title ? (and have DVD Profiler pull the data from the database). We have a couple hundred discs, between DVD and Blu-rays and right now they are all in an Excel spreadsheet. Is there a way to create a flat file (or csv file) with the titles and have DVD Profiler process them ?

TIA.

does your excel list have the upc. if so there is a upc import plugin you could use.

I don't think there is anyway to do it by title. other than copy the title from your list, past it into the add by title box, select the profile you want and then add. Unfortunatly that wont always work because some titles might not always match what you search since it goes by the title on the cover.

UPC is the best, easiest way to go. If you don't have a barcode scanner you can get one pretty cheap from ebay (alot of people use the cue-cat which you can generally get for about $10). Even just typing in the UPC by hand would be a lot quicker than doing it by title.

I have over 600 titles. They are all ripped to a NAS and the physical media boxed/stored in the attic. The UPC route is a non-option for me. That is a real shame, so far I like what I see with the product, I knew it would be a chore to get them all entered in, but with this I may need to look elsewhere for my DVD/BD collection management solution  .

Thanks for your time to respond.

don't count the software out yet. as it is very feature rich and once you get past the initial data load you can easily enter new titles by UPC as you get them in a matter of seconds.

the main problem with adding by title is going to be movies that have more than one version and needing to select the correct one. You also have locality but that probably won't be as much of an issue if at all since you can set the default locality to the main one you buy from (and if thats the only one its no issue)

take a look in the plugin forums though as maybe some of the import programs written for other programs can suit your needs or the plugin author would be willing to make an attempt at adapting it for your needs or evening writing a basic title import plugin that would get the majority of your titles in.

even if it can't be done, a few minutes spent each day here and there you'd probably be able to enter your collection quicker than you think. On thing to speed it up is to unselect prompt for personalization on the add screen.

I did see where I could filter on media type (DVD vs BD) and locale (Region). I do know that there might be multiple possiblties for each title, but since most are BDs there were only a few that were re-released adn/or had "Special editions" in addition to the original ones. Either way I didn't expect it to be a simple import, but to require some input on my part, just not so much to have to enter each one in by hand.

I looked briefly at the Bulk Edit plugin since it does have an import function, but I couldn't seem to find the exact funtion that I needed (I also read through the documentation).

Thanks for the tip about unselecting the personalization prompt. I have not yet registered the product (since I want to make sure it will work for my needs first), so I think I can only add up to 50 titles (and I am already @ 20 or so), but it should be enough to test how that imput will work.

I suspect you're going to run into the same issue with adding by title with every DVD profiler type app out there.
