Is there a way to submit a new profile with partial info?

A friend was looking at my collection and saw a couple movies that he has, but are not in the database. He asked if I could submit them, but I can't figure out how to without submitting cast/crew.

I submitted one, but I suspect it will be declined as I noted the cast/crew data was IMDB mined (I figured there'd be one last step where I could use a check box of what I was submitting, but there wasn't). And, to my knowledge, there are no line-by-line declines available, as it's all or nothing (which is another discussion  )

Anyway, I guess the question is how would I submit partial data on a DVD not in the system?

And for the love of God, can this not turn into an IMDB discussion, please?

Unfortunately, initial contributions are 'all or nothing'.  Unlike every other contribution, there are no check boxes.  I don't know why that is.  Then again, I am not db designer.

The only way I know of would be to contribute the information before adding the cast and crew to the profile.

Cast and crew are actually not required to make an initial contribution.  I have made several pre-release and post-release contributions where I've entered just basic info (title, SRP, aspect ratio [which I believe is required], studios, genre).  Then, when I have more time (or when the disc is released in the case of the pre-releases), I go back and fill in rest (cast, crew, features, etc.)

Thanks, that's what I was figuring, but not hoping on.

That's not quite what the meant by "All or nothing". For any other contribution, we get a tick box when contributing so we can choose whether or not to include it (if a difference is detected of course). However, for the initial contribution ALL data for the profile is submitted & we can't choose whether or not to include it. They weren't saying that we must include Cast/Crew in that submission.

Exactly.  While you are not required to submit data for each field, if that field has data in it, it will be contributed on a first time submission.

Very easy: press Space to flag the profile; goto File - Backup Database - Backup flagged entries only and save it somewhere.[1]
Now: File - Open Database - New Database and create a new one, open it, restore the backupped profile and delete everything you don't want to contribute, and off you go.

cya, Mithi - also a cast/crew neglector

[1] And while you are at it, make a full backup of all your profiles.

As noted for new titles you submit everything or nothing, you can always prevent the Contribution from being declined, which it will be, by removing the cast and crew data and resubmitting.

I ended up resubmitting by copying all cast and crew data to a notepad, deleting, then adding back in after submission (it's nice when you copy all, you can just highlight and paste all.)

Took about 10 seconds, and now (barring any unforseen problems), Blood, Boobs and Beast will be in the database for him.

Thanks again!
