If a dvd is encoded for all regions i.e 1-6, do we tick all the region boxes or leave as unticked, so will come up as region free? Does not bother which way is correct, just so i know for future contributions. |

For example "Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead: Special Egg-Dition" actually has all region codes active so I enter it as 1,2,3,4,5,6. Other DVDs that have "No Region Coding" I do not check anything.
That way the entry reflects how the DVD is actually encoded. While functionally they are the same in the end the actual encoding on the DVDs differ and the profile can reflect that.

But if the cover has an "All" region logo or says All Regions, I'll tick them all. No, here it says to list them as All, so I ca't see how it's against the rules to list them as All. I can only interpret this as you check all the boxes, if the disc is coded for region 1-6. |

I also think it would be nice if Ken included an "All" icon in the program as well. To me they're not identical for all practical purposes, because if nobody has entered the region it will default to "All Regions", so that All Regions could be there on purpose but could also be there just because no info has been entered. Checking 1,2,3,4,5,6 will cause an "M" to appear so then you can see that the info's there on purpose. Like you i'd therefore like an All icon.  |

How do you determine the difference between all regions and no region discs? I was under the impression that the only way to make a disc region-free was to enable it for all regions, and when people refer to "region-free" or "no region coding" that actually means the disc is region 1-8. I could be wrong, of course, so I'm curious to know what tool you use to distinguish between the two, and how the result is presented. |

| | Posted: | | | | To keep it simple, I would suggest we would use what was on the cover: if the cover says no regions, we tick none, if the cover says all regions we tick all.
There are programs which will break down the region coding to work out the actual difference, I think ifoEdit is one, but that's more work than what should be expected from the average user, so I think using the cover is fairer. |
