Why do we have so many users willing to accept a completely UNDOCUMENTED change from 2.35 to 2.40. Do you have the same Ouija board the Contributor has.

'Splain it to me, Lucy.

Don't know.  I obviously don't have that particular profile because the one I do have never came up for vote.

Let me know if it passes and I'll spread the wealth to the profile I do have.

Why would you want to spread UNDOCUMENTED data?

I wish I could say I was surprised by the number of 'yes' votes, but I wasn't.

I am confused...all 3 versions I have are 2.35:1, why would you change it simply because another might have gotten accepted.

The OP is probably right. At least IMDb says that the aspect ratio is 2.35:1.

But:

What is the purpose of his post? Without an UPC or a link to the contribution notes in question, how should one know if the data is valid or the notes are sufficient? For all I know, it could be the Full Screen release.

Maybe the OP could vote on the contribution and explain his objection?

Ah, I almost forgot: Insert RollEyes icon here.

Mathias:

If needed I will post the UPC and the list of names voting yes, if none of them want to explain their support for undocumented data.. That is not my preferred approach, I want them to either explain it or wake up and change their vote.

And I DID vote NO and explained the reason.

My dry wit doesn't translate for beans when it comes to text.  My hope was that the eye roll would help communicate that.

I have no intention of submitting an aspect ratio change.

I am guessing that the purpose of this post is to get, currently, 21 people to wake up and stop voting yes 'just because.
It is the Blu-ray version, (043396215207).
The notes read, "Adjusted the screen-ratio to 2.40:1."
The OP did vote 'no', as did I and 4 other users.  The problem, however, is that those 'no' votes may be ignored...I have seen it before...and bad data will have to be changed yet again.  Unfortunately, I don't recognize most of the names that voted 'yes', so they probably won't see this anyway.

@ mdnitoil...I have that same problem.  No worries, mate.

My point, as it seems to be unclear:

The OP complained about "UNDOCUMENTED" data and widely used Ouija boards. Yet, unlike you, he provided no documentation (UPC, link) that allows me to verify his complaint. Sorry, but to me that's kinda funny.

In other words an attack. Why am I not surprised??

You didn't understand, Mathias, because you had NOT voted on it. So, instead you attack and insult the OP without any comprehension at all...typical.

Those who voted Yes and wuill see this post will know. Mathias, just like Unicus recognized it even though he voted No. I am not at the point yet where I want to or feel the need to provide more information, if it comes to that, I will.

Well, without information, what was the point of your post (I ask again)?

And since I'm bored, I took the time to verify the contribution. Thanks to Unicus69 for providing the UPC. Here are the facts:

- The back cover lists the aspect ratio as 2.40:1.
- None of the previous contributors documented the choice of an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 (e.g. by measuring it).
- The new contribution attempts to change the aspect ratio to what is listed on the cover (That cover info might be wrong or not, I don't know).
- None of the No voters said, he measured the correct aspect ratio.

Presented with these facts, the contribution is perfectly fine and the yes votes are understandable. Again, I don't know, whether the aspect ratio is 2.35 or 2.40, but neither the contribution notes history nor the No voters have indicated that the cover is wrong. And unless someone proves the cover info wrong by measuring the actual aspect ratio there is nothing to complain.

Long story short:

If you really were concerned with the quality of the data and the documentation, and assumed you know the cover info to be wrong, you would have voted No and explained that in your No vote.

Instead you choose to post a complaint that could not be verified. And after another user provided the means for verification, it turns out that your complaint is  completely unfounded.

Is the change to 2:40 correct or incorrect?

And I'm not talking about documentation and whether he followed all the "correct" procedures in contributing, just curious if it's good data or not?
