| | Posted: | | | | A ‘Mega TV Series Box Set’, now Season 1 Set 01 Disc 1\2 & Set 02 Disc 3\4 can be added by disc Id but can’t for Set 03 Disc 5\6.
The reason, it’s already allocated to the same series (& locality) but different Box Set as Volume 14.
Now I have checked and although the Disc Ids are the same, the contents on the disc(s) are different... Features: Gallery\DVD-Rom\Bios, Audio & Running Times
&
Cover\Edition differences are Production\Release Dates, Covers & Overviews & Packaging
Therefore, for all intend & purposes they are different bar Disc Id’s…
Now can’t we for Mega Box Sets where..:
1. No Barcodes on individual Box Groupings (sets within a Mega Box Set)
2. Disc Id’s that might be same as other Disc Id’s with in the same Series\locality
…Do the following?
Use the Parent Barcode say 6932851856241 & the number of Box groupings (sets) is 25 have it as:
693285185624101, 693285185624102, 693285185624120… But these generated Barcodes must be listed in the Parent Profile as Child disc(s) so when contributing one must 1st generate the Parent Profile with intended Child disc Numbers & detailing in notes.
I know the easy part is to say just keep it local but DVDP isn’t just a local application… if you look at the online db the Mega Set will have all but Set 03 Disc 5\6 will have incorrect data as Volume 14. |

| | Posted: | | | | Unfortunately that happens all the time, e.g. you want to use the DiscId of your first disc of the season and it's already in use for the entire season which came in a multiple-season-box-set without EANs for the indivdual seasons.

I suppose I can get around this by adding it to the on-line db by linking it to the SA Locality instead of UK, but will I be breaking the rules… the item was imported from amazon.uk via a local on-line supplier? | | | | Last edited: by mlr |

| | Posted: | | | | You could for contribution purposes (to allow the mega set to download all child profiles) dis-associated from your other set on a temporary basis, allocate it to the mega-set. Contribute the mega-set. then re-allocate it to your other set. Then either leave a note in your own DB that disc x is in box set y, or create a manual profile for your own use too include in the mega-set. Just a thought.  Steve |
