* Production Company(s) Okay, good, understood that. As a US user (and for US locality profiles), for films that are not US films, am I supposed to list the theatrical distributor for the US release? Or am I supposed to list the theatrical distributor in the film's home country? I lean toward wanting to list the original distributor, but I've got this idea from somewhere that I'm supposed to list the US distributor. With either one, what do I do if the DVD does not give the credit to the one I'm supposed to list? (The question came up in my mind for a DVD that lists the home country distributor but the film also has a US theatrical distributor - but I can imagine the reverse). If this is the case with a DVD, should I just list the studios as given rather than looking up who the US/home country distributor was? | | Posted: | | | | I'd say it should be the theatrical release studio for the film's original release, which in the vast majority of cases will be in the film's home country (not always though). Why do I think this? Because what in DVDP is (erroneously) called "Production Year" in fact also refers to the year in which the film was originally released - and to me, it would not make sense to have one DVDP field referring to one definition of theatrical release and another DVDP field to another definition. |
