I'm editing the profile of E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (EAN 3259190529724) and have a question to the owners of this release:
Can anyone confirm that this EAN was ever released as "Special Edition"
The reason I ask is quite simple:

There are several inconsistencies concerning this release and especially the cover gives me a headache.
1. Severe differences in scan quality between front- and backcover (backcover with EAN is much worse and has a different size)
2. If you put the DVD into your DVD-ROM it is recognized as the "Special Edition"-DVD and you're asked to download the matching profile

My assumption: When this profile was created someone "forgot" to scan the correct frontcover.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Mine too!
Contributed this scans now, because obviously someone has copied the front cover from EAN 3259190-529823 and not 4. The 3 really is the Special Edition which was released on the same day as the 4.

In these cases if you can assume the old contribution has stolen parts from another profile that does not match this release, I just check the contribution info, and there's no source I specify that in my contribution; "No sources for the old profile, so corrected ...."

Is that possible with the 3/4? I thought the last digit was some kind of check digit.

And don't want to critize your contribution but I think my back cover is sharper than
yours (look at the "Inhalt" section).

It's easy to check: Go to Add DVD by title, there you'll find two entries for an E.T. Special Edition, both released on the same day with almost identical EANs, only difference is the last digit.
The next indicator is the size and quality of the existing "scan", it's quite obviously a download from the prerelease time and was never changed.

Yes it is sharper than mine, but it's not what's in the database. the existing scan is much paler. This leaves us two options:
1. You contribute your scans now and have to do the whole reasoning, while I withdraw my image contributions.
Or
2. You wait until my contrib gets accepted and upload your improved scans in about three days.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!

Or you copy my scans and recontribute it along with your other changes.

Didn't think of this ...
It's done, kept my frontcoverscan though (less artefacts, better colourmatch)
