Tried the knowledge base and searching forums (got timed out on any date, 30 days, 15 days and 5 days so... <g>)

Was just in trying to "find someone" in the cast section on the filters in 3.5.1 build 1252 and they seemed to be in rather randombetical order. Is there a way for me to sort this information? (I tried right click and no option)

Have over 400 DVDs so not having cast members in some sort of order isn't much help it would seem. What am I missing? Or is this a suggestion for the next version/update?

Did finally find the person by repeatedly typing the first part of the name, going to a wrong entry and typing again.

Thanks for any info you can supply on this.

The cast list in the filter section is sorted by last name, with those without a last name put at the top of the list. Of course that assumes that the cast name has been entered properly in the first place.

The search box at the bottom of the list will also look at any part of the name for a match, not just from the beginning, for example typing in "John" will bring up "John Smith" and "Stratford Johns", so you might find that typing in the surname and not the first name may narrow down the results better for you.

Thanks for the tips!

I sure missed it being sorted by last name (but seems I vaguely remember this from looking at it long ago - don't use the filters as much as I should I suppose).

I did try just typing in the last name, but that seems to "hit" on the first name instead.

Your suggestion of the search box (which I had totally missed, thanks) made a world of difference.

Now if I can just remember (this time) that the list is sorted by last name AND there is a search box, should make me a lot more effective in searching this area.

Thanks for the point in the right direction.

Sorry, I didn't realise when you said you were typing the name, that you weren't typing it into the search. You're right in that when you start typing outside the search box if goes for exact matches only.

No problem. If in doubt, I will ALWAYS do it wrong at least the first few times. <wink>

Still learned a good deal and maybe this thread will help others in the future.
