I'm very happy with this software.

But now I wants to save my own movies in this program! I saved many movies on dvds from television and now I want to save it in Profiler. How I have to do this?

Thanks for quick help.

Kind regards.

Open the "Add DVD" dialog. Go to "Add By Titlte". Uncheck "Download from Invelos" at the bottum. Then you can enter any title you want.

Dear Semmlerin,

DJ Doena's method will always work, but will require you to enter all data manually. If, however, the movie you're trying to save already has a profile in the Invelos database, "cloning" that profile to match your recording might save you a considerable amount of time.

Here's how to do this:
- Choose "Add DVD".
- Choose the "Add by Title" tab.
- Set Region, Locality and Release to "Any"
- Then type in the title you're looking for (it might be worthwile to try the original (English?) title as well, in case it differs from the German title).
- Using Preview, try to find the most complete profile that matches your recording.

Download the profile in question.

Next, this guide will tell you how to adapt this profile to your needs.

Of course: don't contribute any of the changes you've made!

Good luck! If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

IMO, Cloning in this case should NOT be done. It will only lead to trouble, i.e., accidental contributions. Home videos should always be entered as manual profiles which are not contibutable.

The best is to clone an existing profile, than change EAN by manual one, which is now possible. BTW, I never contributed accidentaly... and I hardly can imagine that...

Isn't it possible to clone and then replace the UPC by "Manual"?

To avoid accidental contributions, after he has cloned the profile from the online, I would also change the UPC in order to make it a non-contributable manual profile. That can be done by selecting the "DVD" menu, then "Change UPC", then enter, for instance, "M0001" without quotes (or M0002 and so on, as long as the first letter is an "M") as "New UPC".
DVD Profiler will change the UPC to show "Manual DVD #0001" and so on.

Well...I'll be damned. This must have been a change with the new version of Profiler because, in the previous version this wasn't possible. Thanks Enry for pointing that out .

Well, that was exactly what I said three posts before. EAN=European UPC...

I knew this was possible but didn't exactly know how - that's why I didn't mention it in the first place.

BTW I find the adamant statements in here about what people can or can't do quite amusing, as it's not up to any user to decide on what other people do with DVDP locally. What's more: if I interpret the username correctly, the OP is a she, not a he, and this is not about "home videos" but about TV recordings.

Actually, if you just enter M by itself, Profiler will automatically assign it the next unused manual number.
