I have started using the Last Watched feature. I added the column to my main view (now shows Title, #, Last Watched), however I have found that when I click on the column heading to sort by Last Watched, any DVD which is part of a Box Set is not sorted correctly. Is there any way to change this?
For instance, I see :
Pitch Black - 11/01/2009
Dragon - 10/01/2009
Assassination of Jesse James - 09/01/2009
but then way down the list after a long list of blanks, I see :
Raiders of the Lost Ark - 12/01/2009
It stays as part of the Adventures of Indiana Jones box set, and does not get properly sorted by date Last Watched.

The 'last watched' depends on its date in order and because the Parent of the box set wasn't watched, But one of its children was, would automatically scroll that newer date Underneath the Older date of the Parent.. It can't be done- Unless one day Profiler can (in its first ALL column) 'undo' the parent/child into individuals ( just as the Online collection does, as it sorts all its titles by UPC and Disc ID ) Then if All was set up as such then You could use last watched accordingly. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. However, I do synchronize the Last Watched date by importing it back into DVD Profiler. For child profiles, I automatically propagate it to the parent profile(s) during the import. Thats what I do - I have a tag for boxsets and I unselect these in the filter and then I can sort by watched date. (Also you can use this to sort by other fields e.g. collection number - I recently forgot I had to do this and got very confused.. duh..) | | | | Paul |

Nope, wouldn't be wondering that at all. What I wanted is when a column is clicked, the categories are dissolved. I don't know if you know Lotus Notes or not, but in its views, you can use categories. Things would appear this way : Gladiator - Watched Jan 12 2009 Godfather Collection - Godfather - Watched Jan 10 2009 - Godfather II - Watched Jan 11 2009 - Godfather III - Watched Jan 13 2009 Godzilla - Watched Jan 8 2009 Then if I clicked on a column header to sort in a different manner, the categories are instantly dissolved, so if the column I had clicked on was the Watched column, I would now see : Godzilla - Watched Jan 8 2009 Godfather - Watched Jan 10 2009 Godfather II - Watched Jan 11 2009 Gladiator - Watched Jan 12 2009 Godfather III - Watched Jan 13 2009 Notice the category is gone, and the individual records are no longer listed against a Box Set. If I then click again on the same column, it reverts to the way it originally was. I'll try out the filter option, that seems to me a reasonable workaround. However, it is intuitive to dissolve categories when sorting using an alternate sort order. Thanks, R. |

Hi Northbloke, Thanks, that actually worked perfectly. Using the Invelos Default High Res layout, I now have the filters in the top left-hand corner (permanently on the Genre tab). I created a new custom Genre called "Box Set" and flagged each one of the parent profiles. Now if I ever want to see my Collection sorted by Last Watched, it is dead simple. I click twice on the Genre "Box Set" so that the square is empty (ie. so that it excludes any profiles which have that genre), and then click on the Last Watched column. Ta-dah! Exactly what I wanted. All movies, even those from Boxed Sets, are now correctly sorted by their Last Watched date. Returning to the normal categorized view, I simply click on the "Clear All Filters" button. Thanks for the suggestion, R. |

You should have created a tag for this instead. That's what they're for. Still, you would achieve the same result I guess. Still, you would achieve the same result I guess. But it's certainly an odd way of accomplishing your goal. Hey man, I just make it up as I go! If there is a better way to do it, I'm all ears. OK, so now I tried to do the same thing with tags (because after all, "Box Set" is not a genre). And yes, it works the same way. All it means is that I have to move the search bar tab over to Tags (8th tab) instead of Genre (2nd tab). After that, procedure is the same. Click twice on my new custom tag to remove all parent profiles, then click on the Last Watched column. Not bad, and technically more correct than creating a new genre. Thanks, R. |

Yeah, that wouldn't do it for me though. I tried to watch entire series in a row, but found I would lose interest halfway through. Ever try to watch all 3 Austin Powers in a row, even spread over 3 nights? You are just about ready to jump off a cliff by the end of Goldmember. So I need to keep track of which ones I am on to make it through the set. Making a new genre (or a new tag) for parents was the correct solution, makes sorting by Last Watched work in all instances regardless of whether the flick is part of a box set or not. R. |
