I recently (within the last hour) upgraded to the new version (3.5.1 Build 1252) and can now not add new dvds/movies to my collection, either by upc code or searching by title. Any time I try, I get the error noted in the subject line of this thread followed by a message telling me to check my internet connection. The internet connection isn't the problem, I've ruled that out.

I've tried using the 'repair database profile' utility in the options, as well as reinstalling, but no go. I've even tried rebooting my machine, but still nothing.

Anyone got any ideas?

Try a database repair. In DVD Profiler go to Tools > Options > Utilities > Repair Database.

As stated in my original post, I've already tried that and didn't fix it.

You say you've ruled out the internet connection, but did you "test" it within the program? The only reason I ask, is that the error message you are giving is either for a profile that is not in the online db, or the program is not connecting and downloading. Under the menu Tools/Options then select the Online tab and click the test button, if you haven't already done that. If the test fails, try checking the "Use alternate Internet connection method" box.

If the test is good, try refreshing a profile you have already got in your system. If that fails to connect, it could be some temporary problem with the web that is not routing from you to the db servers and might work again correctly later. If you can refresh a profile, it is possible that the UPC you are entering in is not in the system. You could post up one or two of them so someone else could test to see if they are available.

Hope that helps, and Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome, antolod!

I've tried testing my connection as you suggested (via the Online tab in the Options), and that failed, with and without my firewall in place as well as using the 'alternate connection method'.

I am also unable to update the current entries of my collection, too (Online >> Refresh DVD from Invelos >> Refresh Profile and Images).

Sounds like a problem with the www. Maybe. Your collection looks like R1, so I'm guessing you live in the U.S. or Canada. I know a while back some European members were having problems connecting and if I recall, it went away after a day or 2. I'm in central Illinois, and everything is working fine here.

I'm out of ideas. You might open a support ticket and see if Ken can give you any ideas.

Good luck.

*scratches head*

Ok, I don't know what was so special about this reboot, but I just tried rebooting again and now everything is working as should.

I don't know if it was actually a temporary db routing issue or was solely on my end, but the issue is fixed.

Thanks for the help antolod!

EDIT: Amd yes, antolod, I am in the US (in south central WI) !
