Disney Drops Third Narnia Film
Fans of the Narnia films will have to hope some other studio picks up the option to produce and distribute the third Nania film, The Voyage of The Dawn Treader, the Walt Disney Studios has passed on its option to renew the series. Frankly this isn’t surprising after the somewhat soft domestic showing and the weakening economy. This doesn’t mean that Dawn Treader is dead in the water, another studio could pick up the option and partner with Walden pictures. Who knows what the market will be doing two years from now. I have to wonder why Disney announced this on Christmas Eve. Trying to bury the story?

Sucky news. I thought Prince Caspian was quite good. I hope another studio picks it up. BBC TV series didn't do all the Narnia books either and quit after the Silver Chair. Dawn Treader is awesome indeed. Disney has no problems making Air Bud sequels however.

The first film had a lower budget but made drastically more.

Since when was The Chronicles of Narnia a trilogy?   

It's been a LOOOONG time since I read C. S. Lewis -- longer than many of the posters here have been alive in fact -- but I think there were 6 novels in all.  The trio I refer to is the original plan for a series of movies based on a distillation of those books.

I know it wasn't part of the Narnia series but my favorite C.S. Lewis book has always been "The Screwtape Letters".

I am highly disappointed in this latest Disney decision. They still made a profit on PCaspian (although not as much as LWW) but a profit none-the-less.
