Goldman Sachs is using our tax dollars (bailout funds) to pay their execs bonuses (Yahoo Video Here). This just pisses me off to no end . Here we have massive layoffs, hourly reductions, no bonuses...even paycuts, but the rich just keep getting richer. Where's the oversight here? Why is this being allowed? I want F'ing jail time for these bastards!

Sorry for the rant...I couldn't help myself .

WTF did they deserve bonuses for??? Ruining world economics in less than 5 years?

Does anybody remember the final scenes of Spoiler:  (Select to view)
Fight Club
?
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Rule 1 and 2 are don't talk about FC, rule #3 is if someone yells stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.
Silly space monkies!

I seriously try not to think about things like the first post as I tend to react violently. Then when I can't beat the shiitake mushroom out of those who deserve it, innocents get the brunt and I get the holding cell. It's not worth it, for now...
The end of FC is closer than any of think I would guess. Get that money in the fire-proof matress!

OK, here's the thing. Socialism is failure free. No matter what a mess you've made of things, you just keep on keepin' on and make a still bigger mess.

Capitalism necessarily involves failure. There can be nothing "too big to fail." Start thinking that way and you go the way of the late unlamented USSR.

The Goldman Sachs mentality seems to be that the important competition is getting the best execs. For that you have to show how generous you are to the current execs. What is this? Executivism? It ain't capitalism, where you are competing for customers, not executives.

And, it seems at the same time they're shifting their income offshore so their effective tax rate has dropped from 34% to 1%.  It's nice to be a friend of Henry Paulson, isn't it?

The real problem started when we refused to accept all the foreclosures coming in on subprime mortgages. The foreclosures were not the problem. They were the solution. Foreclosures are what happens when a buyer can't maintain his mortgage. This may be a damned shame, but the United States does not have the responsibility to bail the buyer out. A "subprime" mortgage is by definition a mortgage more likely to fail than a non-"subprime" mortgage. Unfortunately, this curious term "subprime" was used instead of the much clearer "extra risky". Hey dude, interested in some bonds based on extra risky mortgages?

We have still less responsibility to bail out irresponsible financial institutions or dinosaur carmakers. If the Detroit traditional-U.S. carmakers fail, that's just more business for the Asian-brand plants in the South. This may offend our chauvinism, but international competition is part of capitalism too and someday some U.S. brand will reverse the process if it's good enough. If it's good enough. Not until then.

Same here. Although do to our company's financial situation, bonuses were nixed a couple of years ago.
