Went to input a couple new Blu-rays earlier this evening, took forever to get hooked up to the site (usually all it takes is  3 seconds and it's done, this took 2 or 3 minutes and then a window opened telling me I had to upgrade to 3.5.0, my current version wouldn't work.

Soooo, I did a backup of 3.0.3 to a CD, downloaded the .exe for 3.5.0 and just as I was going to click the install button I remembered, where are the custom reports I struggled hours to design?  Will they get overwritten / erased when I install 3.5.0? Where are they so I can make backup copies, or are they in the backup.dpb I burned?

I checked the on line Help but didn't find any info about what happens to reports when upgrading.

Didn't see a readme either for the new version other than the new features/fixes.

That's strange, when I opened the reports area from the toolbar for the first time after upgrading to 3.5 the 8 reports I made up myself weren't showing on the list. I closed out of Profiler and opened My Docs / DVD Profiler and didn't see any of my entries there. I then opened the Reports folder I had copied to my desktop earlier and copied back the entries, (they were all 1KB in size - actually shotcuts to somewhere else and not the reports I designed myself?) and after that re-opened Profiler and the reports were listed and worked when I opened them. Whew!

Obviously there's something about this process I don't understand (and that wouldn't be a first, LOL), but all is correct at this point, all entries there in 3.5 (and backed up again) and I added 4 new entries and all went as expected.

Obviously, I'm not a power user of Profiler  The new edit custom genre tool is someting I've been hoping we would get for a while (coming from 3.0.3) for that half dozen or so oddball dvd's I want to push to the bottom of the list (video setup/test, that Xmas gift of "Tranquility: Fireplace", etc.).

And Ken, thanks for continuing to support Profiler through the various Windows O/S changes over the years. With just over 500 dvd's at this point, it's the only way to browse my collection as far as I'm concerned. I had a terrific CD data base program (Cut his tongue out!!!) back in the Win 98 days that eventually became no longer useable with XP and the developer stopped supporting it, and it wasn't a user contibuted profile base like yours, it was all manually input character by character by me and exclusively to me. With over 900 CD's the loss of that data base has been most annoying. Sure, I could probably build my own in excel but I don't have that many year left! I rather spend my time doing other things. Profiler would still be cheap at twice the price. So again, thanks.

PS: I just stumbled on to the Graphs and Charts info, how cool is that! It's amazing what you can learn when you take a day off from work to just stay home, watch the snow flurries, and play!!!
